View Full Version : A concern...(part 2)
Before i start ranting (again), i would just liek to let the moderators know that if they feel as if they must lock this topic because of what im going to say, i completely understand and i wont blame you for doing so...
But wow, here I am, trying to make people aware of a serious issue, and what happens? You guessed it...
I just don't know what to do these days. All im trying to do is help out the forums and make poeple aware of two things...
1. We have rules
2. We have active moderators, which is starting to become more of a big thing now.
I dont understand why people just cant read. Whatever happened to those commercials about how reading is good for you? Did those just mysteriously disappear when we really need them? I think so...
So all im going to say is this to anyone that is going to join the PokeGym in the future (that is, if you arent disgusted by spam). Read the rules very carefully. The internet is supposed to be a place for information to be traded, not for people to act immature and ruin it for others...
Three people that posted toward the end of this thread are not getting it.
I predict at least one of them will get themselves banned by the end of the week...
I'm holding myself back from doing it right now.
Pops, I dont see a reason to hold back. We know whats going on and it obviously has to stop. Even if you want to take me down for being such a hypocryte (because to an extent, I am making a personal attack), then feel free to do so.
All I ever wanted to do was get a point across...That's all...

I'v been trying my best not to spam the past day or two. I don't see why so many people arn't reading the rules? I love to read but rules bore me but I still read them. The first time I read the rules I skipped the area labled "Bad language" or something like that because I NEVER swear. So when I re-read them about two days ago I found out that that area covered more than just bad language. So I learned that not everything has only what's in the title.

I don't have a problem at ALL with this thread, A_Z. And I think that many people who read it and think it doesn't apply to them need to do a bit more self-examination and look at the responses their previous posts have gotten from their fellow community members...and perhaps they'll realize that yes, they actually ARE being addressed by this post, and the previous one before it was locked.
And yeah, the moderators are active...and getting tired, and losing patience. I myself have just been criticized via PM for the language I've used lately in posts, though I've broken no board rules nor circumvented the board obscenity filters...and I can't help but think that NONE of the other (male) mods/admins would have been taken to task for the same words used in the same context.
I guess Teresa Heinz Kerry was RIGHT last night when she said "My right to speak my mind, to have a voice, to be what some have called 'opinionated,' is a right I deeply and profoundly cherish. My only hope is that, one day soon, women -- who have all earned the right to their opinions -- instead of being labeled opinionated, will be called smart or well-informed, just as men are."
JMHO,

Mew Master, its good to see that you are making an attempt to change...
SomethingElse, thats a good question...There maybe info about him in the Compendium site...
SD PokeMom, a few things...
1. Good to hear you dont have a problem with it
2. Language? Oh please...I've heard much worse from my father...
3. as far as the topic about male mods saying language, it all falls into one word...Stereotype...
Anyways, I just want to apoligize as well for my actions. I, to an extent, have probably acting a bit "moderator" myself (and if your thinking about it, im declining the offer right now  ). It's just i've been having a real bad week so far (by bad, i mean i randomly turn depressed and angry) and all the spam is just getting real annoying (as a child, i was raised in a way where i was told to obey whatever rules were made). When i see PokeGym, I never thought "Oh joy, another message board with spam." And by a complete swirl of luck, i was right. This place DIDN'T have any spam or huge arguments/fights, only very tiny ones that were easy to resolve.
But like i said in part one, as time went on, the more members we had, the more spam and rule-breaking that occured. However, at the same time, i could be called a hypocryte because i kinda made an outburst about one of my VERY OLD topics being revived...
But anyways, I'll just shut up about the situation since the power of a single member cant do anything...
But before i leave, I'll add in this little part of Megaman X5's script to act as a metaphore...
Hunter B: What is your private dream?
X: Huh?... I've never thought about it... Well... I've got it! I want to
create "Elysium".
Hunter A & B: Elysium...?
X: Yes! It's a paradise where the human race coexists with Reploids
peacefully... Yes... that is my dream... I'd like to create "Elysium"...
Someday in the near future...

No, a single member CAN do something: hit the 'report bad post' icon (the one that looks like an exclamation point) when they see a problem, rather than posting, escalating the argument and adding to the problem.
None of us mods/admins are here 24/7, and we can't see everything. Help us out by: 1) not adding to the problem by arguing with the perpetrators on the forum and 2) reporting problematic posts.
Thanks,
'mom

You know what? I've never reported a post befor. I didn't know that you could untill now so from now on I'll just report bad posts instead of replying on how that the persons post was bad.
