Once upon a time, this Charmander stood out as one of the best "little" basics. Nowadays, it's horrible with that x2 weakness.
Sorry, but I'm not interested in FTKO's via Palkia G or Seadra. =(
2/10.

5/10 only good for collection
The nostalgia kills me and I have to give it a 10 just for that. But I have to say the Charmander from SW is more playable since it has better weakness, same HP, same Retreat Cost, but with better attacks.

What!!?!! No one even mentioned that he artwork is like a leet version of the oldschool artwork, which makes it like retro + leet = 1337/10

If points were awarded for aesthetics and nostalgia, 10/10 (I ran a charizard deck when base set was out). Playability, 1/10.

It's not very playable... If you're going to use the old Charizard, I can sort of understand, but this card is rendered practically useless.

Hmm. Good to put on the bench and build up. It's not REAL bad if you can build it up fast to a charizard. Dislike the weakness, but hey, nothing's perfect. It's okay, not real great, though. I like the artwork mostly out of it all.
A sidenote to Blizzard: Just my honest thoughts, but maybe you could put an explanation on why it's the card of the day? Or is it just picked at random?

This card is very special for me. This was (in the Base Set) the very first card I ever got. Everyone in my elementary school class had Pokemon cards except me. One day this girl was giving away her cards, and I asked her if I could have one. She was nice enough to give it to me, but mean enough to rip it up first. I took it home, taped it together, and kept it as my very first card. Even now, while I have an enormous collection of cards, I keep this ripped up Charmander in my collection as a sort of memento. When I learned this card was being reprinted as a secret rare, I ardently wished I would pull one at the prerelease, but I didn't. :( But I'll get the whole set eventually ;)
For collectors: ∞/10, with Charizard being ∞^2/10 :P

I go through the sets every month and then analyze the Meta if a card has made an interest in Pokemon and we haven't used it in COTD yet I include it in the list. then I go through and look for other cards of interest ie secret rares really cool looking cards and finish out the month.

A good old blast from the past (what, 10 years ago now), Charmander SF is pretty much a direct reprint of Base Set Charmander. 50 HP is a bit dated now, as well as a x2 Weakness to :water:, no Resistance, and costing :colorless to Retreat. Scratch is you basic opening attack, dealing 10 for :colorless. Ember deals 30 for :fire::colorless, but you also have to discard a :fire: on Charmander.
Overall...well, it's nice to see for all of us who have been playing for 10 years, but on the other hand, Charmander SW is a far superior choice; it lacks the x2 Weakness, deals 10 damage for free, etc.
Modified - 1/10 (A good collector's card, but nobody is going to use 4 of these in a deck, let alone spend the money to obtain 4)
Limited - 1/10 (Odds are you're not drawing Charmeleon with him, and even less odds you'll get the whole line. Stick him in a binder)
Unlimited - 1/10 (If you really want to use him, pick up some Base Set Charmander, guaranteed to be cheaper than this guy)
cute card... i like Charmander, but I don't like his weakness. X2 water with a 50 hp is a little too much for me. I would just have this Charmander form in my collector's book. 4/10

10/10 for the nostalgia factor.
2/10 for actual playability. I'd go with the SW Charmander instead.
