View Full Version : Scizor SF Question

I have heard many good things about this card and the deck it could make, especially now with the new Shaymin LVX, but when I began working on the deck I realized a fatal flaw with this card. Because of his second attack, Scizor makes it incredibly difficult to have much draw at all in this deck. Is there anything that I am over looking. A form of draw to get around this, maybe something other than tons of draw supporters. I understand the deck is supposed to be a speed deck in some aspects, but it also goes to say that not every game will go perfectly like that. Any help whatsoever is much appreciated.

There are two standard ways to handle Scizor decks, currently.
The first is just what you said, run no Claydol/Uxie/Azelf, keep your pokemon limited to 4-4 Scizor and 2-2 Shaymin Lvl X, and use Trainers and Supporters to set up and swarm your opponent. There are, after all, plenty of trainers and supporters that allow searches and card draw, and Scizor, being Stage 1 only, has limited requirements setup-wise. And, if you do run Uxie, feel free to Psychic Restore to put it back in your deck ASAP. After all, it only hinders your sitting on the bench. Downside of this strategy: Increased number of mulligans and a reasonable chance of Shaymin as the only starter (not always bad, since you want Shaymin to Level Up anyway.)
The second is simpler. Run the pokemon with powers anyway, and count on Scizor's Accelerate and pokebody to whittle away at the opposition. Advantages here include a reasonable chance of Accelerate KOing before the opposition has a chance of stopping it and an incredibly easy set-up. Disadvantage is that Pound Down is severely limited with Claydol or Pixies sitting on your bench.
I generally prefer option 1, but I'm tired of every deck running Claydol anyway.

So pretty much what you are saying is to rely on the draw of the Supporters and load up on trainers? I was just making sure there wasn't something I was just overlooking like an airhead.

You could add a few Uxies to get your first two turns underway.
Then, psychic restore the uxies away (or super scoop up!)
Then, the supporters/trainers should get you underway...
to name a few...
Don't forget, there are BASIC Pokemon that can Start you off as well! Sabelye, Chatot, even Farfetched.

The Uxie idea is awesome. The only problem that I foresee is that it isn't a starter, because the power is a coming into play effect, so you need to get him out active to scoop using the attack. I guess this isn't a problem if you use the free retreat scyther or a free retreat starter. That is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks a million. I knew I was not thinking of something.
