It was announced at the EX Sandstorm tournament in San Diego today that the next set will be called EX Dragons. Wonder if it will include flying dragon PKMN, such as Rayquaza.....

EDIT: Oh yeah, if you guys want to actually know what is in the current set that hasn't even been released yet before you want to know what's in the next set, visit the following link from my site for a complete card list of EX Sandstorm and a lot of the scans:

WOW  I wonder were they got that information from, caues it was the frist time I have heard it. That sounds like it could be a cool set. Of course it is still months away, so I will only worry about Sandstorm for right now.

Unless I heard incorrectly, PT&E1 said that Nintendo told him that, and that was all he knew. It is pretty fitting to call this set EX Dragons, since the Japanese version had many dragin/flying Pokémon.

EX Dragons? Wow... and I only expected EX Champions. :) .... And yeah, Rayquaza WILL be in EX Dragons (as an ex-type no less!). For more info, check out my site (links in me sig).

Yes, I knew that. I was just giving people some clues to what would be in the set, you know, to make them wonder.

Actually as of now its supposedly the prototype name.. I hope they come up with a new name though ^_^ EX Dragon by itself sounds urm.. interesting... Well, lets hope we get some more news soon.

The set should be nice. The new way of doing dragons is very...well...new. (double resistance, weakness to colorless) ADV3 has two minidecks (as ADV1 had three) so I assume they won't need to get new, never before released cards for the set (like they did for EX:2, as ADV2 had no minidecks, meaning no extra cards). Though, since ADV3 only has two minidecks, it would be cool if they added some new cards anyway. It'd be really great if Nintendo decided to try to get at least one EX card (not EX-Pokemon, just a card in an EX set) for every pokemon. It doesn't look like that'll be happening in ADV, but Nintendo obviously has refreshed plans for EX.

How do you know it is a prototype? PT&E1 said directly that Nintendo named the next set EX Dragons. He said nothing about it being a prototype name.

Obviously, if it has yet to have been announced to the public from Nintendo and Pokemon USA so it is not official.

If you ask me, the title sounds like the next generation of Dungeons and Dragons games

I agree with Phil, that the set name could change. Remember how Crosstrainer was changed to another name. MTM said that naming a set could the hardest thing to do since you have to come up with a name that fits the set, check pattens to see if someone had already done that name, if so start all over again. So EX Dragon could be just one of many names they are working on for the set.

On a side note, since Sandstorm had extra cards in it that were not in other sets, maybe we will see the same thing with the next set. I guess we will have to wait 3 months to find out. :D

Isn't that because Crosstrainer was altogether cancelled?

I just picked up the October Scrye, and both page 16 and page 26 make reference to the new set. "Pokemon: Dragon" (pg 26) is listed amongst the upcoming sets, and on page 16 we find, "The following set, Dragon, will be released in December" (I fixed the bad grammer)

I reckon this is pretty official, since it undoubtedly came from Nintendo. All things, of course, being subject to change.

Regarding the set contents - ADV3 does have two mini-decks, for a total of 84 unique cards (Aaah! (http://fakecard.com/tcg/adv3/), where did I find that out???), could be a viable set size, I suppose.

"The following set, Dragon, will be released in December"

Which means we could see the Prerelease tournaments for these end of November/first of December. :thumb: I will say this it is nice to think about a Prerelease with every set release now. Give us players something else to look forward to. Thanks PUI :D

Well, I hate to say this BUT I TOLD YA SO. :)

Anyways, I think there is more than enough proof that this set will be called EX Dragons. It would be suprising if they renamed it.

FlygonChampion

It would be surprising if they didn't. Because me Japanese contacts say the set will be called EX Olympius, and using it I will--RULE THE WORLD!!!  AHAHAHAAA!!!

Seriously though, I heard it's EX Olympius.

The Japanese ADV3 set includes the following Dragon pokemon:

Gyarados
Dratini - Dragonair - Dragonite EX
Vibrava - Flygon
Altaria (does Dragon Dance attack)
Shelgon - Salamence
Rayquaza EX

Then the mini-decks which were released with ADV3 have more Salamence and Flygon, as well as the Latios EX & Latias EX (they have the same colorless weakness that all the rest of the new dragons have, but I don't know if they are considered dragons themselves)

EX Champions and EX Olympius sound better than EX Dragons. Still, I'd understand it if Dragons were the theme of the set. Still, couldn't they call it EX Sky Pillar, or some other dragon-infested area of the GBA game?

Don't forget Bagon is also a Dragon pokemon.

And technically Gyrados is a water/flying pokemon.

And there is a Kingdra in the set too!

I couldn't tell on my quick trip through the spoiler whether Bagon was a dragon or not - Gyarados uses Dragon Rage, so I included it - Kingdra EX looks sort of "dragon-like" , but I didn't know if it was technically one or not :)

Well, Kingdra according to the G/S Gameboy games, Kingdra is considered to be a Water/Dragon type. Plus, it learns a number of Dragon-type attacks(such as Twister, Dragonbreath). Wonder if they'll make a colorless type Kingdra for EX:Dragons since they've made other past dragon types colorless?

Because i go to japan very frequently (i spend about a week per summer in japan, im trying to get a job at pokecenter) I'm looking forward to seeing The Dragons EX set in japanesse... I saw 3 cards; Salamence, Dragonair, and an energy... i dont know if those were from Dragon EX but...

sorta off topic but, IMO i think dragons should have their own types, because they arent really related to normal types at all; they should have their own set of W/R... And, about Kingdra, there are many older variants you can get of him...personally, i like the neo one.

Kyfogre22

another thing id like to note... dragon types never really did live up to their game hype (in the game they were immensely overpowered) and i hope that Dragons EX will repair their broken image and increase their now-lacking power

Man...if only SPP was working I would post the card listings. The Japanese name of the set is Champion of the Skies so I don't know where your getting Olympus...

Personally I think there is WAY too many types in the game to be adding a NEW one. NOOOOO Dragon types for me.

O, Come on Nick, everyone likes Dragons. I wonder if the set will have any new cards in it like Sandstorm did. I guess we will have to wait till November/December to find out. :p

Our TO told us at the pre-release in San Diego that the next pre-release would be around Thanksgiving for EX Dragons. So, that means that the set will probably come out 2 weeks later in December (I am guessing the 8th, since it is two weeks after the week of Thanksgiving on a Monday)

Our TO told us at the pre-release in San Diego that the next pre-release would be around Thanksgiving for EX Dragons.

The TO's were given two weekend dates to run the EX Dragon Prerelease like they did with the EX Sandstorm Prerelease tournament. It just depends when your TO wants to run it in your area.

Are they expecting more locations for the EX: Dragons prereleases to be held compared to the only 26 locations for EX: Sandstorm?

PUI has not said one way or another, but they did want a least 35 for the Sandstorm Prerelease, which makes me think they will try to get more then 26 locations for the EX Dragon Prereleaes.

I heard that there's a supporter that has a similar effect to super scoop up but without a flip! Is that true?

There are too few Dragon type Pokémon to make an extra energy type for them. Then it would end up just like the small Metal type (before R/S), where they had to reprint Skarmory, Steelix, Scizor and Magneton over and over and OVER again. :/

In the RPG, Kingdra IS a Dragon/Water Pokemon.

I heard that there's a supporter that has a similar effect to super scoop up but without a flip! Is that true?Yes, there is. Mr. Briney's Compassion (note: only a rough translation, so don't freak if that's not the official English name). Trouble is, it only works on non-ex Pokemon. A Tech-able card nonetheless.
