Whats the difference between A&B leagues?
And do they qualify if they win O-league?

Edit nvm I found out on meh own.
A league is like Juniors and B league is like seniors and masters.

    ---------- Post added 05/12/2012 at 02:13 PM ----------

    Found something interesting.
The spring carnival worlds qualifying event has 3 'stages'.

The first is the challenge stage. You have to win 3 in a row to advance to the next stage. There is no time limit on the games.

The second is called the Premier stage. You apparently play games until 1 o'clock, then the top 16 people with the most wins advance to the next stage. There is no time limit for the games.

The third stage is called the climax stage, and is set up as a single elimination bracket. Each round is 30 minutes.

And also, if want, after the challenge and premier stages, before it starts, you can switch decks or change cards in them. That means after the 2nd stage, you can see what decks were doing good and change accordingly. However, everyone else will be doing that too so you can't look at the bracket and switch decks based on your opponents last deck they played.

    Premier/Challenge Stage: 9 AM - 1:30 PM
    Climax Stage: 2 PM - 4:30PM

    [First Stage] Challenge Stage

    -No time limit
-3 wins to advance to Premier
-You cannot make any changes to your deck during your win streak.

    [Second Stage] Premier Stage

    -No time limit
-You cannot make any changes to your deck during your win streak.
-Who will advance to the Climax Stage is determine by win streak at 1 PM (may change due to event issues).
-If there is a tie in win streak than the amount of loses is looked at next.
-If there is a tie in loses it is then determine by a game of Rock-Paper-Scissors.

    [Final Stage]

    -Each round is 30 minutes.
-Changes to deck cannot be made during this stage. However, before the Climax stage starts you can make changes to your deck.

Afterwards, it pretty much standard procedure similar when it comes to time matches.

I thought I would elaborate a bit more on how the tournaments are being handled. I cannot find any information saying either or for O-League.

    Oh hey, front page!

The information comes from an official blog run by several members who help with tournaments, PCGN. Tournament information can be found on the Japanese official website as well, Spring Battle Carnival infromation.

Also, here is the Sendai A-League winning deck list. Might as well make it convenient to find the information.

I love that the English community finally has people willing to cover japan. Ever since Esa's article, this has been building up. I'm so glad to have such close coverage. Maybe one day, we might even be getting sets at the same time. Eh, that's a pipe dream, but who knows. Weirder stuff has happened.

Your welcome! I don't really mind covering Japan at all with the amount of research I have been doing since Esa started his articles. B-League is happening right now so anticipate the results for that. Also, if there is enough interest I can post other deck lists that I find that aren't the Winners but are in the top cut if I do come across them.

First thing first, Garchomp + Altaria took 1st in the Yokohama! More details about the deck and the top 4 will be posted up on the official Japanese blog May 14 in the morning JST.

Really appreciate what you're doing here RestlessBob.

It's interesting in itself and it gives an insight into what may or may not be playable next season. Up until now info from Japan has been so sketchy.

I wonder if T&T are going to start taking preorders on Hydreigon and Garchomp? (That was sarcasm, but I wouldn't be surprised).

I did read a tweet saying a past World Champion/Participant did win. I do not know who though.

Well happy days happy days.....people said my hydreigon idea was a bad idea well it dosent look like dont you think.....

I just read a report from the official blog. Apparently the top 2 game wasn't too interesting. The garchomp deck whiffed energies at crucial points and hydragigon deck got a darkrai rolling early with an eviolite so it pretty much sealed the game against chomp. Thats why we have best of 3 here.... :P EDIT this was the sendai touney btw

That's rather interesting...Emolga in the B-League winning? Starter Pokemon making a comeback???

I digress though, it's always interesting to see just how varied and interesting the decks are in Japan, I already want to try Garchomp/Altaria lol.
