Thread: What finalizes the search of a card?

What finalizes the search of a card?

When a player uses a card to search for another are they able to

    1) Select a card and lay it face down on the playing field while they continue to search through the deck.

    2) Select a card and lay it face up on the playing field while they continue to search through the deck.

    3) Do either of those two options then start to shuffle, stop shuffling and pull out a new target.

Is offering the deck to be cut by the opponent the finalizing move?

If this has no official answer yet, if it gets one is it possible to add it to the compendium?

There was an answer from OP from some years that shuffling the deck moved to the next step (read the card).
But I think it would be worthwhile to update that since OP managers have changed and changed again since then.
