    Fiber optic cables

Why don't we trash all these category 3 and category 5 and coaxial cables, and just wire the whole world with fiber optic cables?

Category 3? Category 5? Coaxial? Yup, you're talking about computer cables...

Certain technology is used for computers because it is the only thing that is compatible at the moment.

    Example, Ethernet cable has...
10BaseT, which uses Twisted pair RJ-45
10Base2, which uses Coaxial RG 58/59 BNC (British Naval Commection)
    10Base5, which uses Coaxial AUI

Fiber optic cable have been an potential option for cables so far. However, the main problem, as with any technology, is what ports it would be compatible with. Until they find that out, we're stuck with what we have.

Holy crap this is going so far over my head.

Sorry, I just really had to say that.
There are two kinds of people in this world; those who play Magic and those who play Pokémon. Those who play neither aren't really people.
