Why'd you stick this down here? Let's move it to the Gym Challenge section so people can easily find it!

Aren't the Citys generally before Gyms? Also, aren't Gyms generally for Worlds trips? I'm confused...

In US, yes. But we´re talking about Europe where everything is different and players are not covered with prizes and flights like some other people, who do not have something better to do than complain about it...

Sorry, but such an ignorant post makes me angry...

I'm an American. Over here, we get absolutely nothing about the state of the game in Europe except for the one-sided accounts that we get from you guys. I wanted an explination, and I think I got it. There is no need to be angry over what people don't know, just calmly explain it to them.

Sorry again, but I´m thinking that I extract too much information from this forum which may make me react somewhat strange from time to time.

Marcello - is that nearby a major airport (were KLM flies to)

Also again I don't understand why there is a difference.
No CC's starting with a GC, this way Europe is never going to be an grown up TCG place for Pokemon.

The nearest airports are:
Pisa 35 km from Lucca (from Schiphol AMS you must change plane in Paris CDG or Milano MXP)
Florence 68 km from Lucca (from Schiphol AMS you must change plane in Paris CDG)
Bologna 155 km from Lucca (direct flight from Schiphol AMS)

You can see the flight on the KLM website.

Also low-cost company BasiqAir fly from Schiphol to Pisa.

Hope that helps.

P.S.

Ok, guys, sorry for the delay but I had some friends there to take care and I didn't had the time to answer there.

We'll have some Gym Challenges from now on because we want them to be hosted into the major comics/gaming conventions, and these conventions are Lucca Comics, Giochi Sforzeschi, and Torino Comics.

We'll have the GC at Lucca Oct 31th, a GC in December in Milano (Giochi Sforzeschi), and then April in Torino (Torino Comics).

This is a decision coming from the italian distributor, not from PUI. In fact, we aren't getting official 2004-2005 GC stuff because this stuff isn't still in the minds of PUI guys ^^; We'll give away old prizes (such as old VIP Packages and such) but these tournaments will be useful for qualifying in Italian Nationals, and will still be an Official Premier Event (I hope).

Last, I want you to know that GC in Europe aren't for World trips, because the OP system is so different from the US one. The only trips are from Nationals.

Hope that helps :)

PS Lia, can I hope to see you in Lucca for our Poké-Weekend? :)

Marcello - I will look if I have a change to get over and back that weekend. the boys have to go to school on monday, so my chances are little.
Driving is to far for me.

Milano sounds beter because that has a major airport, any ideas about which weekend that one will be?
And is there a change it's on a saturday?

Did your distriutor thought about handing out invitations for worlds 2005 as an extra (not that to many will use it, but it's a nice suggestion)

I found your prereleases at least you have some.

Hmm... hope that you'll reach Lucca or Milano.
Milano usually is on the 1st weekend of December, but the GC is always on Sunday.
I'll ask for the Invites, I think there is no problem about Invites without trip :)

December 5th is the birthday of Sinterklaas which we in our country celebrate for the younger kids with giving them presents. It's like what Santa does with christmas. My youngest son is still in his "believing" years, so if it's in that weekend I'm not sure if we can come.

Here in the UK despite the International pages telling us:

Quote:
Pokémon TCG INTL City Championships will be taking place starting in November 2004. To find times and locations of City Championship events in your area go to - http://op.pokemon-tcg.com/events/eve...=north_america
Hey that's clever a link to the US CC's perhaps that is the plan we have international cc's they just happen to be in the US? Oh wait look there's a full list at this link - http://op.pokemon-tcg.com/events/eve...=international

But wait there are no CC's anywhere?? Can that be so or are the US PTOs already being consulted about events running in November (ONE MONTH AWAY!!)

Still we're told by our OP provider no city challenges until January .. guess they realise that will be right on top of the next set and the pre-releases again...

How can we plan? How can we TO them effectively? We're asked to advertise and make successes of these events but PUI/OP Provider and Distributors are not talking to us.. this is no way to run a programme and no way to communicate to us. We find snippets at various websites, we are fed various information/misinformation from PUI/OP providers/Distributors and all the time OP suffers...

Still I am sure here in the UK we're in for another round of 8-10 player (or less) premier events run at short notice with no advertising ... maybe some more premier events at closed locations ... ho hum grown up OP yeah and there's that levitating porcine again ...

Guess the definitive list of CC's is here on the gym ...

Good news from Italy:

thanks to the kind sponsorization from UltraPro and Nintendo of Italy, we'll have more and more cool prizes at our LuccaChallenge!

You are always welcome, come to visit us... and our Prerelease October 30th! And when tournaments are not running, there'll be a Pokémon Union Room for your casual games and much much more :) It's Pokémon weekend, you can't miss it :)

The prerelease had only 8 players, but did well. It wa won by our Italian 10- Champion with a Rocket's Hitmonchan ex & Mantine deck :)
The Lucca Challenge saw 23 players (a great result, assuming that it wasn't a Premier Event), with a lot of new faces for the Pokémon TCG.
I'm really satisfied by these results, and I hope we can have better results for our scheduled City Championship for Milano, December 7th ^_^
