Exclamation Tournament Play vs League Play

Hello all..

I had an inquiry to PUI organized play regarding league vs tournaments.....

Some of my league players asked if they could be awarded league points for the wins/losses in the tournament held that day in conjuction with league (Two separate events. Players could choose to play league or Tournament.)..

My original question was....................

For players playing in a tournament that is being held coincident with league........
Can league stamps be awarded to tournament players for the wins/losses in the tournament?

I emailed PUI and received the following response...

Tournament games should not count for League points. We want a clear delineation between tournaments and leagues.

Thanks PUI for your clarification..

I'm not sure if your post is asking a question or if you are posting the response from Mike L.

If you are asking a question about stamping the League books for tournament games, the answer is a definite no.

So now I know for absolute sure not to do it with any of my leagues. Thank you Terry.

Now, what about if your tournament is big enough where it takes up your one day of the week League slot? People need to earn their badges and can`t always make every single league session. Especially with all the Holidays coming up. If they can make the tournament, I don`t have a problem with people keeping track of their games via the League forms we used to use so we can apply the points to the book. As each Season comes by, you notice it takes more points to get to the badges...

I have no problem with it. My $2. ;)

In order to comply with POP's request, we've moved our tourneys in Richmond to Saturday afternoons 1x month and league will remain on Friday nights

"Tournament games should not count for League points. We want a clear delineation between tournaments and leagues."

You may or may not have noticed that the number of weeks per season for the seasons that take place in November and December have been stretched a bit. Boon Island is 7 weeks long and Kin Island is 8 weeks long. International distributors are allowed to further play with the season dates to accomidate their country's holidays.

Mike, I suppose by "tournament games", you are only referring to those that are sanctioned, correct?

Non-sanctioned tournament style league play is excluded from this? Thanks!

Leagues should not be run in a tournament format period. The League Leader should not be pairing players with each other. Players should be finding someone to play with on their own. If a player needs help finding someone to play, then the LL can step in but that's the only time that a LL should be pairing players.
