Beautifly pl: Shall I?

Hi, I am seriously thinking of making a speed Beautifly pl deck, with one or two dustox pl. A slight drawback is the lightning weakness of beautifly, which is bad considering the luxchomp matchup. Shall i risk dimming consistency by adding a tech e.g donphan, or shall I maintain consistency and speed by not bothering to tech in anything and just pray to Arceus that I never fight luxchomp? If you recommend a tech or two, which ones would cover fire and electric weaknesses the best?

I think the question is "should I?".

If you really want to play a Beautify/Dustox deck, you're going to have a hard time vs. LuxChomp. You can't just pray you're not going to come up against it, it's one of the most popular decks out there atm. Donphan is probably a sound tech for LuxChomp, but the real problem is if you just run the 1-1, it's really easy for the LuxChomp player to take the tech out straight away. It goes something like this:

> You Earthquake to 1HKO Luxray
> They use Crobat G to Toxic Fang your Donphan
> Poison - Donphan has 20 damage)
> You use Earthquake for 40 or pass (we're assuming you don't have WP)
> Poison -Donphan has 40 damage
> They use Dragon Rush on Donphan
> Donphan has 100 damage
> Poison - Donphan is KO'd

Other techs for Luxray are:

Mankey SV (almost certainly going to be counter-KO'd back, very fragile)
Toxicroak G Promo
Relicanth (pretty solid counter, can also snipe stuff on the bench if needed)

None of these will improve the LuxChomp matchup hugely because the LuxChomp player can counter KO them pretty easily. You might look into Judge as a general SP counter.

I agree, there is no easy way to counter Luxchomp. I will thoroughly test your ideas (Relicanth is great), and will also run Warp Points (x2) to make the crobat scenario a bit easier to handle. If Donphan proves to be fine, I might bump the line to 2-2. Thank you for your help! :)
