Blaziken Deck (Dark Explorers)

Now that a legal Blazikken has arrived, I plan to make a deck with it here is my perspective list any feedback is welcome.

Pokemon

3-1-3 Blaziken DEX

3-3 Ninetales (2 UL, 1 CoL)

4 Reshiram ND

1 Reshiram EX ND

2-2 Volcarona DEX

Total-22

Energy

14 Fire

Total-14

T/S/S

2 PONT

2 Engineers

3 Juniper

3 switch

2 SSU

4 Rare Candy

3 Communication

2 Dual Ball

3 Pokemon Reversal

Total-24

Overall Total-60

the strategy is based around Blaziken, the Reshiram's are my alternative attacker depending on how the game is going, Volcarona is a bench sitter just for its ability that can help with blaze kick, the two unleashed ninetales are for its first attack that lets you put three discarded fire energy onto one Pokemon, the one call of legends ninetales is for its draw support, I am Mostly running supporters that will help me discard as much energy as possible, I don't have any catchers and I don't plan on getting any which is why I run reversal, same for dual ball i do not have any collector and do not plan on getting any. the switches and SSU's are for if i am in a situation in which my active pokemon is one I need to get out of the active, the rest plenty much explains itself.

Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Needs energy acceleration since your big attacks take 3 energy and you're constantly discarding them.

He is planning to use the Unleashed Ninetales for that though with the energy acceleration being attack based and the ninetales only having 90hp, I worry that the trading off of one prize for three energy is not going to be a good trade in the long run.

Typhlosion would be the obvious choice but that makes two stage 2 Pokemon to set up which is always dicey. Emboar is also an option that is also a stage 2 and you would need energy retrievals and fisherman to get energies out of the discard for attachment.

yeah that is my dilemma, with the format the way it currently is I do not want to run anymore than 1 stage 2 line, emboar and typhlosion prime make the most sense but I Fear deck maybe even slower, I have access to both emboar and typhlosion just worried about speed, do you guys think one of those would be the better play?.

Ok what I think I will do is try ability emboar (prob 2-1-2), this would change my T/S/S line as i wouldn't want to discard energy.

---------- Post added 05/02/2012 at 03:54 PM ----------

here is my revised list

Pokemon

3-2-3 Blaziken

2-1-2 Emboar

4 Reshiram

1 Reshiram EX

Total-18

Energy

15 Fire

Total-15

T/S/S

3 PONT

2 Dual Ball

2 Twins

4 Communication

4 Pokemon Reversal

4 Rare Candy

1 Heavy Ball

3 Switch

2 SSU

1 Fisherman

1 FSL

overall total-60

OK, the deck I play with at league is a Reshiboar deck and if you remove your Blaziken line you almost have the number of Pokemon I run in my deck. Which is my way of saying that I think you have a few too many Pokemon for the energy acceleration to keep going. I think you may have to decide if you are running a Reshiram based deck with Blaziken tech or a Blaziken based deck with Reshiram tech and cut back your lines accordingly.

I would suggest thickening your Emboar line to 3-1-3. Tepig is catcher bait with low HP, Emboar is catcher bait with a high retreat cost. You are going to want to make sure you've got the potential for a multiple setup so you have an active Emboar when you need one.

I would shave down some of your trainers, maybe -1 on the reversal, Commincation and FSL, and put in 3 Energy Retrieval. Remember you want to get energy into your hand more than back into your deck especially with only 3 PONT for draw power.

You can change Reshiram EX for Entei EX for the little bit of energy acceleration.

As much as I love my Emboar, I think the Typhlosion build is probably the way to go. Blaziken and Reshiram both discard with their big attacks so the synergy with Typhlosion to get things back from the discard makes the most sense. Of course if you have all these cards, you can try out the various builds and let us know what seems to be working. Good luck.

thanks for the feedback, I have enough to do a 3-1-3 Emboar or 3-1-3 Typhlosion, but like you said with the way that reshiram and blaziken discard energy, typhlosion makes more sense.

I have been doing play testing on playtcg and I may go a completely different way.
