Ripple Sweel needs to be the center of any RCUS deck. Note the center circle. Unfortunately RCUS isn't currently competive in this format. But if you are going to put all those card together in a deck, you most focus on getting 6 types of RCUS out there, and then Ripple Swell attack off. THen with the stadium in play, you need to focus on weakness advantage.
The Sky Spear attack is very nice. Lost Zone doesn't really matter because you are ahead in nrgy. I would give this a 10/10 in an RCUS deck, the rest of the format, a 4/10. The deck just isn't that competive. |

7/10 on the Attacks
Anything that can snipe for 80 is good, but they go to the lost zone which stinks. 10/10 Artwork, i just love it, |

This arceus first attack is only good for a deck that only hase arecus in it really its second is good but it kinda sucks the energy cards go to the lost zone.

I'd only use this card for Ripple Swell. Lost Zoning all my energies attached to Arcreus is NOT worth it for 80 unless it's a last resort move.

Tsk tsk...
I have 3 Energies. I kill your Claydol in ONE HIT before you can do anything with t. I hit your Uxie for a FREE PRIZE. I hit...basically ANY support pokemon you have for a free prize. Do not underrate the Sky Spear attack. Ripple Swell is godly for setup. You can Ripple on Turns 2 and 3 successively in a good deck. 10/10 in Arceus decks (what else would I rate it in?) |

Napoleon took the words right out of my mouth.
Granted, Arceus' build is a deck where you really have to consider which energies you need and which ones you can afford to lose. Normally, this depends on the types of Pokemon your opponent runs. Ripple Swell works well with Ultimate Zone, which in turn works well with Sky Spear. T-2 Eighty isn't too shabby (as you can Ripple Swell on the first turn, if you go second or if you luck out and get six different Arceus on T1). Also, this is the second Flygon Counter of the deck, the first being Steel Arceus. 9/10. It does its job amazingly. |

Today's CotD is Arceus from AR (
one), the key Arceus in many of the builds. Statwise, 80 HP is good for a Basic, x2 Weakness to hurts, no Resistance is common, and to Retreat is cheap. Ripple Swell is of course the key set-up attack for Arceus decks using this one; providing you have 6 Arceus in play of different types (meaning you have to swarm them on your bench quickly), you get to get up to 6 Basic Energy cards and attach them to a different Pokemon you have in play, all for no Energy. Sky Spear is bad for ![]() ![]() for 80 to any one of your opponent's Pokemon in exchange for losing all Energy on Arceus to the Lost Zone.Modified - 6/10 (Arceus decks aren't much, but this one has the key set-up attack for the deck, so may as well use it) Limited - 1/10 (Worthless, the odds don't favor you getting 6 different Arceus types in your 6 packs for use, and Sky Spear is icky) Unlimited - 1/10 (Useless here) |

Honestly, I think this card is the reason why they reprinted DCE...
"Hey guys, we accidentally made Arceus, the center of an ENTIRE SET, suck! What do we do?!" "Oh I know, let's reprint one of the best energy cards in the game's history! That'll solve everything!" =/ 5/10 |

80 HP is good for a non-SP basic, the weakness (x2 to :fighting) can hurt, with all the Machamp decks around. The resistance of nothing is bad, and the retreat is good. Ripple Swell can be good, if you really want to fill up your bench with Arceus cards... Sky Spear is ok, but you have to remove all the energy cards from that Arceus and put them in the Lost Zone (whatever that is!).

Considering how awesome Garchomp C LV.X is right now, this card seems like a shoo in. On the downside, it dosen't heal like Chomp does, and can't abuse SP trainers. It also sends to the lost zone, which is OK is my book, (considering you will be using this card with DCE and won't be able to get it out of the discard anyway...) On the plus side, it's a basic, so you can easily search it out and get a quick snipe to Claydol, which is huge. Also, it dosen't rely on SP "stuff" so you can just tech 1 in to virtually any deck for instant Flygon counter/Claydol/Pixie killer.
Good card. 8/10 |

We have here the Normal Arceus and as implied in the pattern on the card, this Pokemon will have a pivotal role in any deck that is centered on Arceus.
HP of 80 is somewhat on the low side for a non-evolving Basic (and being the Legendary of Legendaries, you would think that Arceus would have a higher HP than say, Rayquaza LA or Mewtwo MD), weakness to Fighting is expected but does not really have a significant bearing since Machamp SF will KO it anyway with Take Out, and the retreat cost is cheap. Its energy-less attack, Ripple Swell, is an excellent attack that lets Arceus have the opportunity to be faster than most decks in terms of Energy acceleration. Granted, you have to have different types of Arceus in play (which is somewhat easier to do with Beginning Door, Roseanne, and Great Ball), attaching 6 energies per attack is huge and if you're lucky enough to do Ripple Swell twice, you've already removed from your deck 12 cards, meaning you have thinned your deck considerably, making it easier for you to find the more crucial cards at the right moments (which is of utmost importance, especially since Arceus decks do not have the luxury of including Uxie or Claydol as draw power). With the aid of Ultimate Zone, it is not that difficult to have the appropriate Energy for every attack (given that you have the Omniscient Arceus in play). Ripple Swell also gives you more confidence to rely on discard-intensive attacks like Psychic Bolt and Bright Flame. Speaking of discard-intensive attacks, this Arceus has a very nifty sniping attack in the form of Sky Spear. Of course, putting Energy cards in the Lost Zone is always unfavorable, but when you consider its ability to snipe and do 80 damage, that cost can be overlooked (and Ripple Swell should ensure that you can do at least 1 Sky Spear). By being able to 1-hit KO the most popular draw support, Claydol (as well as other support on the Bench like Uxie, and Azelf), in today's metagame, you can see that using Sky Spear is all worth it (and I guess it's no coincidence that Claydol's HP is 80). This is especially good since KO-ing Claydol cripples most decks reliant on Cosmic Power for draw and helps even out the playing field in terms of speed. It will be all the more better with the arrival of Double Colorless Energy. Unfortunately, even if this Arceus is an awesome card, the metagame seems to be giving the deck a very hard time in having the spotlight in tournaments. A lot of counters exist- Flygon LV. X, Gengar LV. X, Dialga G LV. X, Garchomp C LV. X, to name a few. Still, Arceus AR5 is a great card and no Arceus deck should be without it. Modified (Arceus deck)- 9.5/10 (great Energy acceleration, great attack. The only downside is the relatively low HP compared to other Basics) Modified (non-Arceus deck)- 6.5/10 (can be a decent anti-Garchomp or anti-Flygon tech but most of the time, you might be better off using Ditto LA instead) Limited- 5/10 (the damage is decent but putting Energies to the Lost Zone is not good and it is unlikely that you can get all the Arceus out to make use of Ripple Swell) |
