Lightbulb HGSS Decks.

Ok, what decks are out in HGSS? From game changing decks, to not so good decks, I want to hear them all.

Good Decks:

Average decks:

Do u mean brand new decks from HGSS? or just decks that r good for HGSS meta?

Good decks:
Donphan
Gatr variants
SP variants
Gyarados
(these r all tier 1 imo, plz don't hurt me)

Average decks:
any formerly unusable Pokemon with DCE in it's attack cost

Charizard and Donphan are going to be the scariest decks to come out of the set. 'Gatr, I don't know enough about the meta and water cards to decide. It doesn't seem like there's a whole lot that can work well with it and truly use it to its full advantage - MAYBE Blastoise? - so we will see.

Jumpluff has potential but I doubt it will make it too far. Sure, it could T2 120 - but if you Playground against a Charizard deck?... GAME OVER!

also w/ playground, your opponent doesn't have to fill there bench, so if u see the pichu, you're most likely going to be playing jumpluff so just stop right there and get nothing (that and if u don't g the pichu, even w/ it's body, it can still get knocked out by a shadow room). i see donphan, charizard, and gatr being new decks, as SP, flygon (which just goes from rawr-ubersmech w/ DCE), gengar (can't seem to get rid of this guy), glictomb (iffy, but it may stay due to the lock still being good) will be staying.

Don't forget about Gardy/Gallade decks and Flygon. They'll really favor DCE, and Flygon may become more popular, while GG could make a comeback.

Feraligatr may depend. If Donphan becomes too popular (since obviously, it will really be played), then maybe Gatr could become a deck, much like what is happening in Japan right now.

I am not sure what will be the best.. but some fun ones will be:
-Adding Dunsparce in Shuppay.
-Blissey
-Snorlax X
-Arceus
-Machamp [For Rage]

Weakness isn't the problem, it's just "Oh hey, you set up my T2 Fire Wing for 80+20 for belt = KO! =D"

I plan to rebuilt Arceus as soon as this set comes out. So many cards help out it's ridiculous...and my Arceus was ridiculous BEFORE.

I'm really excited because I think HGSS' DCE alone will bump Gardy and Gallade back up to their former glory... which is exciting to me because I currently run a gardevoir variant so it will be easy to change when it comes out.

DCE does awesome stuff for Flygon too so I think that'll also become even /more/ popular.

I heard a lot of talk about different Fire/Water decks thanks to Feraligatr Prime + Ninetales. Charizard and Typhlosion were among the fire ones and both sound pretty good, and for water I have heard of a lot of different pairings... the scariest appear to be Lumineon and Blastoise though there are very likely some I haven't seen.

That Pichu deck sounds like nothing more than a league deck so... that's all I have to say about it.

I think SP will still run rampant because if there is enough Fealigatr interest (which we all know there is) Luxray GL will have nothing at all to worry himself about.

I'm sure there are others I'm not thinking about that could appear, but as for existing decks I think they'll largely stay the same... maybe decrease in popularity but be pretty much as effective... unforseen circumstances barred anyways. (PS to whoever said gyarados was top tier... it's not really the best deck anymore, in my opinion anyways, and I can't think of any cards that will change this in HGSS? or is there something I'm missing?)

Dave, u missed Pokemon Collector. Grabbing 3 Karps in 1 supporter makes the deck a turn faster. And it's one of the few water types that OHKOs Donphan and resists it.
Therefore. If Banette was the counter to GG a couple formats back, then Gyarados is the same to Donphan. If Donphan is the BDIF of course.
Just speculation tho...

Haha. Luxray smashes it either way. He pulls up Claydol and KOs it. Afterwards, setting up for any Stage two deck is difficult, but this deck hurts even more so due to needing so many energy, and setting up two different stage twos. Great Feraligator (for the power), and Feraligator (for attacking).

Luxray beats A LOT of decks that are not weak to it.

Also, ^ if you are wise you would not use a second feraligatr to attack. I think lumineon is best myself since it is a minimal risk and if you can collect enough energy in your hand you're pretty well off. Granted there are lookers, etc. but few run more than perhaps 1 and its not hard for feraligatr to get more energy. plus, it has a bright look of its own for most major threats (it can pull up anything with 100 hp or more). I would probably run 4-3 lumineon and 2-2 feraligatr if it was me, too, and 4 NM... so the lumineons, my low-risk attackers would swarm. Kill feraligatr and i might be in trouble for a couple turns but again, weak to grass and id probably want to tech around something like that anyways. i'm not sure i would even need to run claydol if I played it right. if i did it wouldnt be a central focus by any means.

Every time Lumineon would attack, that would make for a prize. There is Power Spray and Leveling up to counter Lumineon's Power. Feraligator is the easiest option to set up against Lux due to the double versatility in evolving, and it isn't weak to lightning. I highly doubt any build of Feraligator could stand up to LuxBlaze or LuxComp.

What do you think about Flygon after HGSS?
It could be a nice deck?
At this moment , Flygon is not really played..Gengar curse and Garchomp C / Dialga G are very difficult match-up for him.
With DCE can be return to be one of the most played deck...or not?

^ As TOYBOX just pointed out, does anyone have any opinions on Palkia G become a solid contender in the metagame after HGSS? With DCE allowing it to Hydro Shot on consecutive turns and run Expert Belt to 1HKO Donphans with Pearl Breath and Unown G instead of DCE, its type advantage to Donphan, Charizard, Blaziken FB and Infernape 4, and its power-locking capabilities, I reckon it could become a big contender for the states

It will be very good I reckon.

Luxray is the only problem. Just make sure you have a Croak G Promo I guess.

Flygon is going to be just the same.

With Garchomp getting the same boost all that'll happen is they both get better. Flygon will never be BDIF with HGSS as if it does Garchomp will rise once again.

Good decks so far everyone. Keep it up.

Thing is, Croak G Promo can only do so much. They can keep on pounding you with Luxray and 1HKOing your Palkias and their Dialga G Lv.X/Blaziken FB Lv.X/Infernape 4 Lv.X etc. can normally just 1-shot your Toxicroak G right back, and with Crobat G splashes it becomes even easier. It has similar problems with Flygon, which gets a boost due to DCE.

Yes but , with HGSS level X will less played...so, Flygon's Xtreme attack is more useless. And Flygon X is good for its attack (also for the body, but more for the attack). In general Flygon deck is good for Flygon X's attack or not?

Umm no, not typically. The body is what really makes the deck shine and the attack is usually just a bonus IMO.

Yeah I guess. With Flygon if you really wanted you could play Garchomp. Never tried it however.
