Tyrogue HGSS - Check this out
So after falling in love with one combo I have noticed something else in the HS set that could be really interesting.
Tyrogue from HS can hit 30 for nothing but gives itself sleep, which isn't actually a bad thing due to its Poke-Body which gives protection when Tyrogue is asleep. I bet your thinking 'how is this good?'. Here is the answer. Tyrogue + Expert Belt + Pluspower = 60 damage and protection but we still need a way out of the sleep next turn to hit again. This comes from a card that although it isnt a staple in some decks is a useful and underused card. Switch. In the end we get a deck concept of Donk, Protect, Switch and Disruption if we use the right cards. Deck could start along the lines of... Pokemon 8 4 Tyrogue HS 2 Uxie LA 1 Mesprit LA 1 Ditto LA Trainers 16 4 Rosannes Research 2 Bebe's Search 4 Switch 3 Warp Point 3 Expert Belt Energy 5 3 Warp Energy 2 Rainbow Energy There are 31 spaces to fill. Maybe we could get something special going on here. Last edited by payney; 06/19/2010 at 04:58 AM. Reason: list change |

The problem is you flip for sleep between every turn-therefore there is a half chance that you will wake up and then just get KOed. There is also theoretically a half chance you will not start the game and Sableye vs Tyrogue= a nasty brown splodge with three purple spikes sticking out the top-comparable to a squished Ditto. Crobat G drops also destroy this deck. Honestly the deck just doesn't suit this format. I love haymaker decks but this just isn't viable.

A Belted Tyrogue= 50 HP Pokemon= basically 2 free prizes. That's not really something that I would like to have on my side of the field.

you'd be better off using this with 1-1/2-2 wigglytuff so you have a better chance keeping your 30 hp pokemon alive, but dialga just poops on you...disgusting metallic giraffe poop..

The Dunsparce from the same set does a similar job to that Tyrogue, but it does that better.

I encourage you to find your combo. That way you can start taking games by surprise. But, expert belt still seems kinda iffy.
Some cards of encouragement. Xatu wigglytuff Darkrai G(stackable) I yet to find a card that makes a pokemon flip twice for sleep as a poke power/body (in format.)

The one thing that turned me off from tyrogue is that it doesn't effect weakness. w/o it, it will take a lot of time to do goo damage.
