How do you guys feel about digital downloads on the 3DS?

I feel its a good move on Nintendo's part because players wouldn't have to constantly switch game cards every time they wanted to play a different game. One of the things I find fascinating about that idea is that you feel like you can take multiple retail games with you everywhere you go (instead of carrying physical retail game boxes in public, lol), especially when players can avoid the problem of misplacing games in their bedrooms. Like if your playing an offline game like Luigis Mansion and you notice that your friend is playing Mario Kart for example, you can instant switch over to Mario Kart through the main menu, rather than switching the game carts.

The only downside of it is you can't sell them back to retail stores, and its not like you get a lot of money when you sell the games.

Here is the link that talks about it

What do you guys think of the idea?

I don't trade games back unless they are completely horrible. Even if it has no replay value, like the ranger series, as long as it has a good story I will keep it.

I fully support retail full downloads.

I support their existence, but I would never use it. I don't mean eshop stuff; that's different. But if I can buy a physical copy on a cart, I will ALWAYS do that over a download unless the price difference between the two is massive.

Lower quality games, no thanks. Same reason I prefer sticking to CDs. It's funny how people care so much about having the best quality TV's and graphic capabilities, and headphones, yet they'll sacrifice all of that to have speed and convenience.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts, especially since companies still like to charge full retail prices for games with discounts pretty much non-existent. Now if they say shaved $10 or so off the price, I'd probably go with it in a heartbeat, but if they're both the same price, I'd rather hold out on the chance the the physical copy price goes on sale.

We're not talking about lower quality games. We're talking about a different distribution method for the games that you would already purchase.

I'd be all over this like white on rice if they gave a 20% discount on digital games over physical media games. They're not paying for the distribution, shelf space, or physical media costs, so pass along that savings!

Digital download = need for smaller file size = something (graphical capabilities/sound quality) getting cut/reduced in quality. No thanks.

Digital Download doesn't mean smaller file size. It just means you need a bigger SD card and fast internet connection. Have you downloaded a PSN game? They've already done what Nintendo is doing with some games on the PSP. Dissidia Duodecium was both a UMD and a digital download

The same thing with the PS3 and X360 downloads. Full retail games, no compromises, just no physical media.

Personally I really don't like Downloadable versions. They're nice, but as someone who loves having a cool looking case for a game, and limited editions I don't often buy downloadable versions.

A. No, you can't. That would be far too mischievous. (HS:Undaunted FAQ; Sep 9, 2010 PUI Rules Team)

As far as memory space goes, does anyone know if it goes straight to the SD slot, or will go directly toward the universal section.

Everything I ever downloaded on the eShop has gone straight to the SD card.

I like it. For one I don't have a car so getting around to the stores are somewhat of a pain for me. I do however internet so I can jump on the shop channel when I want to.

What is also great about it is the fact I don't have to carry around so many games. Games are also expensive. 35 bucks a pop and if you lose them or they get stolen, it hurts. I know I won't lose my 3DS anytime soon. Another plus about it is my games saved data goes right to my SD card, which means I can back it up, which is something you can do with the game cards so if you lose a game card or it gets stolen, you lost money and time and you can put 100 hours in a Pokemom game easy.
