I agree, this is why I haven't been as active as I was in D&P era. I just hope they rebalance the power between basic/S1/S2 - if I wanted hyper powered basics - I'd just play legendaries on the video games.

ugh, magic has both a cycling and the occasional banning of cards - would you like to whine about that game too?

I'm rather happy on hearing I was right that the game is going BLW-on. Now I just have to figure out what I'd like to play, even if it's mainly at locals.....

I personally like the rotation. Not just because I traded all my HGSS-CoL, but because ot slows down the format a bit, possibly giving Stage Two Pokemon a chance.

Hmm. I guess you're right. I'm not going this year and I was going by the date that 6 people at Battle Roads a few days ago told me (they all said the second week of July). It's pretty strange that they all told me the wrong date even though they all already have their motel rooms booked.
But anyway, thanks for clearing that up. That's what I get for asking my friends about tournament dates and not checking it out myself instead.

When the format becomes Black and White-onward (Sept 1st), the only modified legal reprints should be a few Trainer-Items. Switch, Energy Switch, Energy Search, Exp. All, Potion, Pluspower, Full Heal, Energy Retrieval, Pokéball, Pokemon Communication, Revive, Rare Candy, and Super Scoop Up are the only legal cards pre-BW, since they have reprints in BW-on. I don't believe there are any Pokemon that fit the bill.

Really? Because I think probably the most beautiful thing about this game is since Wizards has left, Pokémon has never resorted to simply banning one broken card. Rotating sets is just a healthier way to do it. If you have to ban cards to balance the format (YGO?) it shows there is a flaw in your card design. Actually, it shows that there are flaws in your card designs every 6 months. Pokémon should not just step in and micromanage the format, and it's quite impressive they haven't really done that.

This rotation btw was kind of obvious, because when there's been a template change in cards it's ended up that way (RS-on, HL-on, DP-on, HS-on). I liked CoL, but no Smeargle is good for the format I guess.

In case no one caught this, there are two McDonalds sets, each with different set symbols. The symbol at the Pokemon.com website announcement only shows the earlier set symbol. My decklist program accounts for both sets.

Steve, is this true of your currently posted version? When I enter via the purple button, the creator shows only the old set symbol, and the HS-on sets. (Or maybe I'm doing it wrong, I dunno.)

That has been fixed and will migrate to the live site shortly for the new season.
