What is the Pokémon Last Chance Qualifier tournament?

The Pokémon Last Chance Qualifier is the final World Championships qualifier open to all eligible players in good standing. It is run using the Age-Modified Single Elimination format.

Players not in line for registration by 8:30 A.M. will be denied entry into the event.

Players’ Meeting

Masters Division

What is the tournament structure?

The tournament is run using the Modified Format and Single Elimination pairings. Each Single Elimination match will be a best‐of‐three format, with the first player to win 2 games winning the match. Winning players advance to the next round; losing players are eliminated from the event. See the Pokémon Tournament Rules for additional information about the Modified and Single Elimination formats. The number of rounds run will depend on total attendance at the event.

Who is eligible to play in the Pokémon Last Chance Qualifier tournament?

To participate in the event, you must be a player in good standing and abide by the Pokémon Tournament Rules and all other applicable event rules.
Players who have already earned an invitation to play in the 2012 World Championships (VG or TCG) are not eligible to participate in the Last Chance Qualifier tournament.
Pokémon Trading Card Game players only:

Junior and Senior division competitors must have at least 10 Play! Points to enter the Last Chance Qualifier
Masters division competitors must have at least 10 Play! Points to enter the Last Chance Qualifier
Japanese and Korean TCG players with a valid passport are waived from the Play! Point requirements
What are the prizes?

Pokémon TCG: A total of 8 finishers in the Junior, Senior, and Masters Divisions will receive:

Video Game: A total of 4 finishers in the Junior, Senior, and Masters divsions will receive:

Additional Information

You must bring your own deck (TCG) or DS and Game Cartridge (VG) to play. Your deck must comply with the Modified Format as outlined in the Pokémon Tournament Rules.
Bring your Player ID number card. New IDs will not be issued for the TCG portion of the event.
Make sure you arrive on time. If you are late for registration, you may not be able to sign up to play in the event. Seating is limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
The Pokémon TCG Last Chance Qualifier is operated by Pokémon Organized Play.

What happens after the tournament?

Upon completion of the event, players who have won slots at the World Championships will be required to pick up their competitor packets at the registration desk. All release forms and waivers contained in the competitor packets must be completed and signed prior to departing the event area for the evening.

As the tournament is likely to end late in the evening, POP recommends players who earn slots at the World Championships retire to their rooms to get rested for the World Championships Main Event, for which competitors are expected to be in the tournament hall by 9:00am.

I know it's been considerably lower, and I know I should know 2007 since I grinded in that year, but what have the numbers been in the grinder in 07/10 compared with other years for Masters? Does anyone know?

Last year was 628 masters iirc. Top 16

It'll always be lower in Hawaii than in the Continental US. I'd probably put the number at around 256 for this year...

Seriously hope they let in however many are needed in a division to get T32, but also to get CP to 128...

I will be one unhappy player if say Juniors get enough (Not happening) and age ups affect the distribution negatively in a higher age division.

Just give us 128 please.....

Do we know what the time structure will be for the rounds? Last year we played best 2 of 3 in 45 min. Since the attendance in Hawaii should be significantly smaller, is there a chance that we will do a full 60 min?

Anyone know whether the grinder will be painfully cut to best of 3 in 45 minute rounds again?
Or will last years mistake be realized and it'll be brought back to best of 3 in an hour?
