Sealed Shelmet Fall Regionals Staff Pack Inquiries

Recently, I received a trade that included an extremely interesting throw-in: a sealed pack of Staff-stamped Shelmets from Fall Regionals! At first, I thought that this was just a funny grab for giggles, but then a friend told me that they're extremely hard to find.

My first question is: just how are these distributed? To PTOs only? Additionally, how much are sealed packs of these specific promo Shelmets worth - just the value of the card times the amount (presumed to be 6-8) in it, or an added premium due to them being sealed?

I would say there is an added premium there.

There are collectors of sealed stuff out there, plus people who just like all cool things like this. I've seen sealed packs of some regular event promos appear from time to time, but I've personally never seen a sealed Staff pack. I would put this down to most places not knowing exactly how many players they would have so possibly getting extras just in case, whereas they'd know roughly how many staff they would have.

They would have been given to the organisers at the tournament, and it's possible that the Staff just decided not to get them.

Very nice find.

There are only 4 cards in the sealed staff packs.

Of the last four eBay Completed Listings, two went unsold, and two more went for $8.00 each. Both of these were purchased using Buy it now, so the potential for the individuals to be worth more or less is still there.

Could somebody help me estimate how many of these sealed packets are left? Demand's shooting through the roof (got about half a dozen comments about the sealed pack in the past three days), but I'm wanting to keep it the more unique it is.

Based off of DJ's testimony, there can't be more than a few of these left anywhere sealed, right?

You can figure it out as well as anyone can.
How many Regionals were held, including outside the US.
Figure that the PTO was given a certain number of Staff packs to give out to staff. I didn't run a Regional, so I can't tell you how many that was, but low end estimate would be 5 packs and high end would be 10.
Then estimate how many the PTO opened to give out to staff.
As a guess, I'd say that maybe 1-2 per Regional were left unopened.
But that's a wild guess on my part.

That would be US only in my opinion for what Pop has said.

I can't say for the rest of the world, but in the UK it's incredibly rare that anything is ever left over.

Thanks for the perspectives, Pop and DJ. The reason why I asked that was because I felt like someone could shed light on some variables I might not have accounted for, such as exact quantities, distribution methods, etc. So while I can make my own estimates and they'd be relatively accurate...They wouldn't be optimal.

At any rate, the main conclusions I and just about anyone reading this in full get are: this thing's rare, it might have some premium value for being sealed, and it is attractive to collectors of sealed stuff. It's still a big question mark as to how much added premium there may be until someone pulls the trigger (that someone probably won't be me, lol).
