Hello but i wanted to know how much this guy has actually sold for, i had a guy fixing my refrigerator who played pokemon and collected a ton of the old sets and he believes his wife(he lost the cards in a divorce) has one(and she doesn't know how much any of the cards are worth)and i was wondering how much he could sell it for(he wanted me to be the middleman for it once he can confirm that he has one). thnx guys.

First off, it's the Base Set Raichu.

And how does he think he got one?
Because you don't just pick one up by accident.
You have to have access to someone who worked for WotC in order to have gotten one.
It can't be just "oh, I think I pulled one from a pack"

I know if I had one there is no way my wife/ex-wife would ever take it from me as long as I'm alive.

If he had one of those, it wouldn't be (I think I had one) it would be more like (I know I had it and she took it), anyone with one of those cards would put it in a safe and hide it in the floor just so they knew that it would be safe from anything like that.

FYI that card you speak of has been seen with a price tag of over 10g's on it, so yeah your friend is just about 99.99% wrong in thinking he may have had one and didn't know for sure.

I feel like it's only natural that we get a couple posts a year from people claiming that they or their friend or their cousins best friends boyfriends dad has a pre-release Raichu. One of these days maybe the post will be true and we'll all scramble around crapping our pants!!

......or at least I can hope ;)

he said he thinks he might have one b/c he's played since the start(and then quit after the divorce) and had a friend that worked for wotc, he's not sure and he is checking it out, again he doesn't know for sure but i thought i would just check it out for him.

You can't think you have a Preraichu. The only way to obtain the card requires you to know.
