Flash Impact

This has probably been answered elsewhere in the compendium, but I couldn't find anything related. With Luxray GL Lv.X attack, Flash Impact, do I need a Benched Pokemon for the attack to work?

LC Flash Impact: 60. Does 30 damage to one of your Pokemon, and don't apply Weakness and Resistance to this damage.

e.g, If I start off with a Luxray LG and Level it up the next turn, but have no Benched Pokemon, what happens?

Luxray G is "one of your Pokemon", isn't it?
You have a Pokemon to do the damage to.
