Booster Box
I have never heard of these "booster boxes." Where can you buy them and how much do they cost? Thanks.

Its a box that contains 36 packs. They range in price from $85 ~ $110. Mainly they are bought on the internet, but Card Shops also sell them. They can not be bought at any major retailer.

Well compared to buying 36 packs indivdually its a savings. Lets see MSRP of 1 pack is $3.69, but mostly stores sell them for $3.99. $3.99 X 36 = $143.64 + Sales Tax = a lot

No not gamestop. Just places like local card shops. I personally think it's easier to get them off the internet. You have a better choice between lots of prices.

But what kind of person has money to spend 89 dollars on Pokemon? I'm just wondering...

well, if you are a competitive player, most likely you will spend 100s of dollars on cards, travel, and merchandice.
also, if you look really hard, you can find wholesalers selling for 70 dollars a box or less.

A $90 box gets you those same packs for $2.50 each. Buying bulk FTW.

Its alot but saving your money is a key to getting things you want. Though by the time you have enough for a box another set might've been released. One thing you can do is buy a pack a week or so. Many people do that.

I also have worked hard to save my money. However, to save my money. I also have started buying base set booster packs for 9 bucks and selling them for 16 dollars. That gives me 7 bucks a blow.

Just to be a little bit more clear: A booster box is something that retailers order. If you've ever bought a pack at a local card store, where it's in a cardboard Pokemon box, that is what you're buying. You're buying the actual box that Pokemon cards are shipped in, sealed, with 36 booster packs inside.
As far as money...any collectible game is going to be pricey. Buying a box is the most economic way to go if you're going to want a lot of cards. Another option is to buy singles from a local comic/gaming shop, or eBay, but that could get pricier depending on what cards, and what quantity you're going to need. Also, it's kind of silly to ask who has "that kind" of money for Pokemon, and how to get that money. Most people get their money from working. Since you're underage, perhaps you could set up an allowance system with your parents? Or do odd-jobs for cash? Really, it's an irrelevant question. Good luck in saving up, though!

Buying a whole box at a time means that you will get 2 LV X, plus a couple of secret rares/shinies.
If you buy 36 packs, especially if it is spread out over time and several different boxes in the shop, you don't have that guarantee. You may get lucky and pull more than 2 LV X, or you may get nothing at all. Buying a few booster packs at a time is the most expensive and risky way of trying to get the cards you want/need.

Some kids in my area are fortunate that their parents buy them box(es) for every set.
It is possible to get boxes in the 75-85 range but you need to buy a case, which contain 6 boxes. Best way to do this is to find others who would want to buy boxes and have them help you to buy that case. |

Unless you go to Nintendo World in Rockefeller Center. I was there this past Sunday, and they were selling booster boxes for the low low bargain price of....$136.99. I couldn't believe it. That's $3.81 per pack!
