Puppet Show- A New Way to Donk

Ok so I was trying to dish out a deck that can really hit my opponent hard and fast, after experimenting with Honchcrow G/Crobat G - a deck I call "Donkrow" and getting 4th at a battle roads last week, I'm trying to build other quick hitting decks that arn't expected.

Pokemon: 19
4 Shuppet (pt)
4 Crobat G (pt)
2 Uxie (la)
3 Unown R (la)
2 Unown Q
2 Mr. Mime (airy wall one)
1 Lucario GL (RR)
1 Skunktank G

T/S/S: 37
4 Roseannes Research
4 Super Scoop Up
4 Poke Turn
4 Poke Drawer
4 Bucks Training
3 Great Ball
1 Luxury Ball
2 Night Matinence
2 TS-2 Devoluter
4 Plus Power
2 Galactic HQ
2 Miasma Valley
1 TSD

Energy: 4
4 Psycic

Strategy: Ok so it's a pretty basic strategy- pound them with shuppet quick. Get Alot of flashbites in, and maybe some heads on blowers for more damage. Get as many plus powers on shuppet possible and they all go back to my hand!! - mean time when shuppet goes back into my hand i bring out a Mr. Mime with unown Q attached giving him free retreat so i can add all the plus powers back on hit them hard and Mime comes back for annoyance. I develute to speed up knock outs (usually with a mime or crobat), or if they retreat out thinking they can avoid a KO. Lucario GL is a tech against Machamp/ GGW/ the many pokemon weakto psycic so i can get a OHKO with shuppet.

What I need help on: I dont want you to bash this deck saying that it wont ever work, let me test that out and find out for myself. What I DO want is for some advice as to how I can improve my trainer/pokemon line to maximize on damage. I have considered teching in a skunktank G for 10 more on poison and Bucks Training but what do you think will be most productive for this deck?

shuppet only needs 3 energy at the most. i'v seen it run with 2 and it works just as fine but yeah get it down to 3-4 and your shuppet deck will be alot faster. put in another roseannes and another nm shuppet decks are funy b/c its deck that runs primarily on a common card. lol i love this deck.

try to put in banette and memory berry so then you use shuppets attack he goes back to hand send out the new banette then on your turn attach all the plus powers and one memory berry use the shuppet attack and it all goes back to your hand and all the damage on banette. then to knock you out they have to one hit the banette.

By the way I Dont know how to spell Banette.

I've been playing with the concept as well. It's definately fun and interesting. I would suggest using Buck's, Skuntank G, and maybe a couple more miasma or galactics HQ. You can easily get away with 4-5 energy.

Just hope your opponent doesn't play a lot of Lookers )

tehmoe: Yea i dropped it down to 4 energy, but i dont think i need another night matinence seeing that i already have 2 and a tsd.

zathaz: I completely understand why it would be helpful to use Bannette in this deck. . . but I just dont have the bench space to have a 2nd shuppet on the bench. Normally I have a shuppet going active to my hand, a Mr. Mime, 2 Uxie, and 2 Crobat filling it up. I think it's harder for my opponent to KO a Mr. Mime than a 90 hp Bannete (which could be 70 if I have a galactic HQ)- but heck, i've got plenty of time to play test so i guess its worth a shot.

dobsonr: I pretty much did exactly that- I changed the pokeblowers into bucks (the flips just werent turning out), and dropped 3 energy for a miasma, a skunktank and a roseannes.

csweet: I'll let them take out a MAX of 2 crobats. And with Lucario GL all i need to do is flashbite once, or poison structure or get a bucks (i put in 4 bucks instead of the pokeblower) , and get 3 pluspower on Shuppet for a OHKO. I am considering putting in 1 mime jr. that way they cant take out Mr. Mime.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions and insight.

Cool, please update your original post if you have a chance so I can keep track of the progress )
I think a 2-2 mime line would be pretty beneficial to get the most protection out of him. Or just test -1 Unown R +1 Mime Jr.

Also, I think the Bannette idea is reasonable so that you have a mewtwo Lv X counter, but actually drawing into it and a memory berry would prove to be the problem.

well i used to play shuppet but it got shut down to easily by dialga g so i stoped playing it but instead of mr.mime and such i played gengar in my list so u use shuppet's attack he comes back to your hand send out gengar and even if he dies ow well there's alway's fainting spell whic can give you a k.o. but this looks okay here's what i'd do

-1 unown r
-3 great ball
+1 skuntank g
+1 roseanne's
+2 bebe's search

and this deck epically fails to mewtwo lv.x which is also why i stopped playing straight shuppet and went to shuppet/gengar hope this helps -Mamoswine42

This is why you should add at least one PT Banette.

ok. . . I guess i do need a way to beat mewtwo. But should i add in BTS instead of Galactic HQ, and which Banette would be better PT or SW? And what do I take out to squeeze in 2 (because 2 is all i would run)

Memory Berry is not needed. Banette would just be anti-Mewtwo and nothing else. The core strategy of returning Shuppet to the hand and sending out Mr. Mime would remain the same.

I've tested a ton of versions of this deck pretty extensively, and I find that Poke Blower + makes it a lot more consistent. Mewtwo X mover, plus it helps make up that 10 damage difference that often times makes all the difference for KOs and at the very least will clear your hand for Uxie.

However, growing popularity of Nidoqueen REALLY hurts this deck. Also, since people are playing Flygon, that means more people are playing Mewtwo X. There's not much around it besides Pokeblower, Regice, and Warp Point. Just saying.

I also have issues with your Pokemon line-up and your TSS line, but whatever, personal preference. You'll never actually use TS-2: you should only be attacking with Shuppet or worst case scenario recycling an Uxie.

If you're going to play the Unown R line, you might as well take advantage of it with Pokemon Rescues or TSDs. They basically say "Trainer: Draw 1-2 card(s)."

I get the whole Skuntank G/Stadium lineup, but the classic Pokedex route is so much faster, and if this deck doesn't get most of it's setup by T2 it loses.

I sometimes run a Shuppet deck as well and one of the big problems I have is getting too many cards in my hand.

Once the deck gets humming along there is nothing to play other than
- attach energy
- attach Plus Powers
- Fade out.

Try adding a Giratina with Let Lose, lot of fun, attach all the things above, then play it to refresh your hand and really annoy your opponent. Shuppet desks are super annoying.
