Raticate AA

Quote:
Raticate LV.31 – Colorless – HP70
Stage 1 –Evolves from Rattata

[C] Summon: Look at your opponent’s hand. If he or she has any Supporter cards, choose 1 and discard it. Then, use that card’s effect as an effect of this attack.
[C] Grown Fang: 20 damage. If Raticate has a Pokemon Tool attached to it, this attack does an additional 40 damage.

Weakness: Fighting (+20)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 1

Read Grown Fang and you will see why that move is scary! If you equip an expert belt on it, you can deal 80 damage for just 1 energy. One of the sickest moves in the game imo. That's one card that players should watch for. A rat that can score early kills quickly that not a whole lot of players can do.

Thoughts?

yea i thought the same thing. i already have a deck ready for it and everything. the only downside is his sub par hp, 70 is'nt good. but expert belt helps some. the next two sets will be amazing.

Too bad Rampardos does 100 for the same set up. :( And Luxray AA does 120 and gets to discard it so he isn't double prized.

I really don't think that card is special.

1. 90 HP ( After attachment of expert belt ) which most cards can 1HKO in this format.. for two prizes.
2. 80 attack for one energy is nice, but it's nothing special. Rampardos and Kingdra achieve this, and most builds can get either one by T2.
3. As other people have said, 30HP basic - donk bait.

The first attack could be quite good with Empoleon and Chatot G etc in some sort of wierd hand control deck.

So if you could go for the donk and have a back-up hand control deck.

It's not broken or anything, but I don't think it should be underestimated. 80 for one is like Rampardos, except there is no downside to using it. It has low HP, though. Imo, this card is no more impressive than Rampardos, and it will only have as much success as Rampardos had, which was very little. I see another donk deck coming around the corner.

If giving away 2 prices isnt a disatvantage, what IS a disatvantage for you?

This could be a fun deck... a TURN ONE DECK?!!?

Not that many people can deal with 80 + damage T1... assuming you go second.

Oh yeah, forgot about that two-prize thing.

So yeah, it's even worse than Rampardos. >.>

Relicanth + 2 Crobat G drops will get him too. It is a nice combo though.

i can see this seeing some fun league play, and lots of Pre-release play, but blaziken FB LV.X can do the same with an energy gain attached, without the 2-prize problem, and more HP.

If you can get a raticate going by turn 1 or 2 at the latest, then you should be able to take something out really quickly. It doesn't have much HP, but it's also rediculously fast. A stage 1 that does 80 for 1 energy? That's unheard of really and I can't really see much that can take that kind of constant beating. Even if two go down, you should be able to take more early prizes, right?

Meh, maybe not, but it's a cool pokemon nonetheless.

Eh, the HP is too fragile for Expert Belt, and it's not worth running with anything else.

It would be mad fast if you could PokeDraw or top the expert belt though.

Mesprit + BTS + Expert Belt + one energy + Warp point = STRONG START...

Even with it only having 70, you put so much pressure on the opponent that you use the next two turns to attach to main attacker. Giving up the two prizes may not be an issue at this point.

i think it would do well as a T1 deck. 4 BTS, 4 candy, 4 pokdex, 4 pokedrawer, 3 unown R, 3 uxie, 4-4 raticate, 4 expert belt, 4 pluspower, and then a ball engine. just get a T1 raticate with expert belt and sweep from there.
