Flygon is BDIF, hands down. It can tech Nidoqueen and Palkia lv.x as well as a 2-1-2-1 Machamp line and various other things without killing its consistency. Just face it, Flygon's slow, but the techs it runs are not.

Palkia Mesprit Lock or Flygon. Palkia is in there cos it hurts SP ( With Azelf ) locks stage 2 decks ( Like Kingdra, Machamp etc ) and is pretty fast. And Flygon with the right techs is boss.

There isn't a BDIF.

The format is wide open and it comes down to match ups, skill, and opening hand most of the time.

There is no bdif (best deck in format.) but there ARE bdifs (big decks if format)
Flygon, so dang techable its that good, Palkia, mesprit lock and 4 powerspray hurts any deck, (cept that dead scizor deck) and of course rogue. with so many options we are seeing so many odd decks. 1 of my friends played this odd blissey/leafeonX tank deck. and i have seen that flygon gardevoir beat the snot out of fast decks. like baby mario said. Its wide open, and majorly luck baced.

I think the hands down 3 best decks in the format are (in order)

1 Gyrados
2 Flygon/Machamp
3 Palkia Lock

Why Gyarados? Well if you don't think it is completely broken, then you haven't been running it right. It can potentially by T3 OHKO anything in the format.

Flygon Champ just has good matchups against Palkia Lock, Gyarados, Gengar, and evreything else. It is a great dck but can be clunky.

Palkia Lock just can beat any bad matchup with power lock, and it destroys SP.

The best deck in format is
GGW (it's still alive) , with the right list one can Psychic lock t2/t3 consistently which pretty much ruins any deck in the format. And with telepass you can pretty much out accelerate your opponent. And Gallade can OHKO anything in format just in case you need to.
If palkia lock is soooo good (when it only gets 4 mesprit drops, and hits for about the same damage) then Gardevoir is broken when it can psychic lock every turn for the whole game.

The difference is speed.

To lock on T2/3, GGW needs a Stage 1 and a Stage 2 on the field in the first couple of turns. Palkia can do it T1 by dropping an easily searched Basic. Guess which one is faster and more consistent?

True, Palkia can only lock for a limited time with 4 Mesprit and 4 Sprays, but that is usually more than enough anyway.

Not saying GGW is a bad deck, but it most definitely isn't a 'better' alternative to Palkia.

Not until we get DCE anyway.

GGW can also drop a mesprit down? Drop Mesprit T2, and lock T3. You can manually attach 3 energy by T3 pretty easily to a ralts, and then you don't need to have had weavile in play to charge. So you missed a lock t1, when most people don't really even play powers. Oh well. GG actually hangs and beats with other stage 2 decks, whereas Palkia has trouble vs stuff like Flygon and GengarMachamp.

I would replace Palkia with Luxray+Fire SP. Palkia has too low of a damage ceiling IMO to get around rare candied Machamps and Flygon.

Also, I think GGW (Gardevoir-Gallade) is defitnetly gonna make a comeback before the tourney season is over.

gyarados isnt as awesome as its supposed to be. alot of things beat it. they only have 5 gyarados' if you can hit for hit with them you win.
and lux(insertsupportsp) is better then palkia lock because quick prizes are better then power locking because if your quicker to setup you will win

What beats gyarados? Through my testing there are ways to beat almost everything if you are careful with your moves.

Blazeray is a toughie, but it can be won. Blazi? How is that matchup hard at all? If you get any setup at all you can OHKO everything in that deck! Magnezone? Too clunky, and gyra can come back much faster

IMHO and experience Gyrados Gengar/Kingdra and Luxray w/ either Ape or Blaze are all very consistent and metagame friendly decks. IMO those are the 2 most important things: consistency and being good against the other "good" decks. As much as i like palkia lock it doesnt have the firepower to stand up to the random T-Tar or Torterra that you might come across every now and then. it seems good on paper, but its hard to get a consistent list w/ the necessary techs such as 1-1 infernape or lucario gl to help take out the bigger pokemon. Yeah palkia lock seems to die late game. It just can't attack that well. If you can live through the lock or find a loophole in it you can win easily. And I swear to god no one come on and say OMG 8 turn lock winz every game guarenteed. It never happens!
