Another Fossil Question

I used the search function to see if I could find these questions being answered, but I couldn't find this particular question, even though I'm sure they've been asked.

Can you use NM to return fossils? No I assume, because it's a trainer, even fossil excavator specifies you getting a trainer. Just wanted to double check.

If you have a fossil and a basic pokemon in your opening hand, can you play the basic as active and have the fossil on the bench? Yes I assume, I've only read the specific instance of the fossil being played as the active pokemon.

You are correct. Night Maintenance will not get a Fossil.

You are also correct about your opening hand.
Treat a Fossil exactly as you would any other Basic during the set up phase.
