Gallade 4
Is Gallade 4 a viable deck choice today? Does anybody have any ideas what to use with him?

i played this guy for worlds and nats. he was okay, flygon is a hard matchup though... i can give you the list i had then
pokemon:19 3-1 gallade 4 1 honchkrow 1 ditto 1 bronzong 1 lucario GL 2 uxie 1 azelf 2 crobat G 1-1 mewtwo X 2 unown G 1 froslass GL trainers:31 4 cyrus 4 roseannes 4 energy gain 4 poketurn 3 power spray 3 SP- radar 1 aarons 1 NM 1 warp point 2 galactic HQ 1 bebes 1 luxury ball 2 premier ball energy:10 1 multi 1 basic dark 8 psychic it's missing 1 card from pokemon list i'm pretty sure, but this thing was so teched out, it won pretty much every time. then come worlds and i got probably the worst luck of my poke-career. |

It can be a viable deck depending on the meta in your area.

Well what I'v always thought was interesting is taking this guy and having him be the start up for gengar Lv.X later on. Like he only takes one energy with energy gain, and he'll more than likely give you ample time to put three energy on a gengar. If gengar doesn't get enough energy you can get shadow room KOs a lot easier, until you do.

You will need luxray to bring up Nidoqueen.

Or we could use Dilaga G..

If your heart is set on it, Gallade 4/Luxray GL/Manectric and Gallade 4/Dialga G/Toxicroak G have tested best for me in the past. Both have their upsides in the format, but typically fail against Flygon, Machamp and Beedrill.
In my opinion they will never compare to SP variants based around Luxray GL , Blaziken FB or Palkia G.

I built lux/lade and played it for a br. Its speedrill matchup was terrible, but all of my other matchups were great. Even our best player(plays flytrap) was scared of it. I dropped gallade for chomp x when i realized the better synergy, however.

Definitely needs Dialga G to cover the Nidoqueen problem. One guy in my area was running Gallade 4/Luxray GL/Dialga G altogether, I'm pretty sure it placed somewhere in a tournament and that's where he got the idea but I can't remember for sure.

In my testing it seems solid but Gyrados is a terriable match up.

Wow, so Gallade's bad machup's are Beedrill, Machamp, Flygon AND Gyarados. That not so encouraging >.<
I'd expected that Gengar was also a bad machup, especially Mother Gengar, but no one mentioned it. How does Gallade 4 handle gengar? As of now, I lean toward Luxray since I can drag queen to the active spot and hopefully KO it, make my Gyara matchup better and can drag pokes with heavy retreat cost (Claydol, Dusknoir) and spread while they struggle to retreat it. elekid 957: What's Froslass supposed to do in your deck?

froslass was kinda a luxray X for me. because i had none. it also made a fun sacrafice, dragging up claydol and putting it to sleep in one attack. i could just roseannes for it instead of having to wait 2 turns to get a luxray X out, and without complicating the energy line even more.

But the idea of the tech is to stop nideoqueen, luxray does a bad job of this since this is a spread deck.

3-1 gallade
2-2 luxray 1-1 dialga g I used this(obviously with techs and the rest of the sp lines). Now you have queen, gyarados and mewtwo matchups under control.
