Deck Ideas for a 6-year-old

I need help coming up with a deck to build for my 6-year-old baby brother.

I guess it would be easier to hep after I explain the circumstances:

My brothers and I took a look at HGSS and the decks that were released in Japan in the following months. We saw potential. Now, in preparation for next season, we wanted to build new decks for the 3 of us. As of right now, the following decks have been chosen:

Me: Jumpluff
a different brother: Feraligatr/Blastoise
(baby brother): ???

Here's where anyone who's reading this comes in. I need to make some sort of deck idea that not only would be simple enough for him to understand, but with nothing important at risk of being rotated out.

Any ideas? Personally, I'm stumped.

I would say blissey MT with DCE comming out but it will probaly rotate out in the fall, he still would have a couple months to use it still. Also there's T2/1 donphan.

I said that nothing important in the combo can rotate out because there's a delay between the availability of the money needed and the set coming out.

How does Donphan work?

This could potentially work.

It would need something to stop the opponent from getting rid of the poison/KOing Crobat, but it could work.

In that case, while it's good until the rotation, those cards would be key cards, and the deck would be severely weakened after rotation.

Jumpluff is out of the question - I'm already going to be using it. Good idea, though! xD

As for Donphan, I'm still waiting for an explanation on how Donphan decks work. I don't see it. EDIT: Now I know.

Nothing is getting rotated out until Worlds this upcoming year, so I don't think you should have to worry about anything getting rotated.

I guess I have to spell it out for you.

I most likely won't have money until after worlds anyways.

Plus, I don't want to waste money on a deck that will only live for half-a-format, not even that much.

Charizard AR, maybe. But whatever deck you use, you have to find a substitute for Claydol, or just go without,

Charizard gets a Claydol Replacement in HGSS. It's known as Ninetales. :P

Octillery+Floatzel is a nice deck for very young players. A friend's daughter plays it and did quite well with the deck. It's very easy to learn and just coinflipping. =)

If you mean the ones I think you do, that's a funny, yet nice idea. xD

Both of you, read the first post better please. Yes, the rotation does matter - my parents won't allow me or my other bro to play unless he comes along and enters.

The announcement of which sets will be rotated out won't be known until after Worlds.
You don't want to buy cards that will get rotated out.
You don't have money to buy cards right now.

I think you should repost this thread when it's after Worlds.

There's no point in preparing now. Because you don't want to buy any cards that are in risk of being rotated out.
So most staples will end up being rotated out. While new cards that we don't even know of yet from future sets will be created and revealed.
And until then, you have no idea what kind of "safe for rotation" deck to make in that case.

I was thinking that as well, I just posted this right now to see the contrast between ideas now and ideas that will appear at that point. xP

lol... things will change quite drastically, I'll tell you.

Just as little as having DCE available in the next few months is gonna change a bunch of decks.

All DCE will change is what I'm NOT going for. xP

Honestly, I'm not going for anything commonly seen as good. Too heavy on the wallet.

Pokemon TCG is not a cheap hobby though.

If you are playing competitively, you should be paying attention to the rotations.
Because you cannot play with cards out of rotation at the events. You will be spending lots of money
on good cards to play competitively with other players that have done so themselves.

Or you can just save money and have fun, buy whatever you want, go play with some friends
or at an unlimited format Pokemon league. Where rotations don't mean anything...

I go to tournaments to have fun. Winning is for those who can afford cards without outside assistance. That's how I can motivate myself to actually enter Cities with InferTran of all things. (I can't enter a league because nearby ones actually cost money... >___>)

I'm building my first ever PKMN deck that can hold its own in tournament play, because losing terribly to everything isn't nearly as fun. So yeah. My baby brother gets mad when he loses, but his deck is terrible as well. xP
