2nd place Western Canadian regionals

Alright so we leave friday morning and drive arrive at 7ish. We do some playtesting and all of us who have an option of what to play just play luxchomp as we feel it beats jumpluff. I guess I didn't even end up playing any but I knew it was a pretty even match up. Wager or Girantina might of tilted it more in jumpluffs favor but that could also mess them up as well.




Round 1 vs Greg Lee w Amphy lock?
Well this actually would of been an alright game if I wasn't able to spray his uxie and then KO his Claydol after he got it out. He got a Locking Amphy t-1 and I couldn't bright look because of it but after drawing nothing slowly his demise was imminent.

Round 2 Vs Dana w Gengar SF/ garchomp C

This match was long but he never even got to attach. I think somehow I ended up being able to KO a gastly 1st or second turn without using trainers and not bright looking. I am able to spray his uxie which leaves him with no cards almost and no energy or supporter. Snipe his Garchomp C next turn. He really just ends up with nothing at all and only gets to attack once with a shadow room. At least he picks up a prize by using flash bite twice so the shadow room KOs my bat. I wish it were a better game because well it looked like an interesting deck.

Round 3 vs Sebastian Crema w Chomp Dialga/Metagame techs
It was super close. Prizes back and fourth ut lly mest up with a ditto at one point by time walking to get bronzong to galactic switch a DCE from ditto to Claydol to retreat. But nope you can't do that. It was pretty huge and I thought for sure it would be the game. It ended up basically he needed to take a prize to tie to make it possible for a win. His turn was so ridiculously long that no one was around to confirm but we had an energy issue. Basically I thought 100% he already attached because I knew my ambipom was prized and he would have to take a prize to tie it so when I took my prize looking at his board I thought that was my only way to win was to draw into my ambipom g from my prizes. 1/3 Chance to win. I thought he didn't have any energy attached to his Garchomp to make this possible. He would of had to discard all the energy allowing me to win with ambipom g. His turn was so long that no one was around to confirm anything that happened :/. He thought for sure he didn't attach. We went through what happened and I decided to agree with him for the sake of judges not having to get involved and to not make someone hate a really retarded ruling. Both of us thought 100 percent we were right and I do not think anyone was lying. It was a sucky way to lose because we both know that you can only lose one game and be safe to make cut so you would have to win 3 to make it after losing. OH well Sebastian is an amazing player I would just have to deal.

Round 4 vs Andrew? w Gyarados

Luxchomp vs gyarados = <3? Anyways I get such a crazy start. First turn I can attach he azelfs for a karp and I can't spray because I go first shucks. He felicities discarding the Karp and a warp which sucks vs luxchomp if he ever would have to use regice. My second turn I ko his benched sableye to have him bring up Luxray. I attach expert belt and 80 for a prize. He tries to uxie spray. He does 30. When I play the lucario GL he scoops. I played this guy at 2007 nats though and he owned me with Empoleon bronzong because all my gardy and gallade were prized!

Round 5 vs someone (forgot name :/) with Garchomp SV / Gengar SF

It just couldn't set up at all .My start wasn't great (i.e no supporters or anything to get them) However I am able to flash bite a chatot and do 30 to a spiritomb with a DCE bite. This allows me to next turn bright look chatot and bite / play any trainers I have. I think I figure KOing the spiritomb will be better.
He ends up missing Garchomp so many times that he didn't even get to attack :/
Once I take 4 or 5 prizes he asks me if I am from Team Alberta and decides the game is no longer possible to win for him and declares me the winner.

Team Alberta isn't much of a team though it is more of a lifestyle . Anyone from Alberta is from Team Alberta basically we always a minority in any tournament except our own so everyone roots for us and we root for each other. Its a really tight nit community and we had basically a webshow rolling through this regionals back to our main league.

Round 6 vs Dylan Vaughn w/ Luxchomp

I have no idea how long he has been playing luxchomp. Him going first really attibuted to this win though. I thought I might be able to finally donk someone however going first he plays misdreaveous uxie >.>. Anyways I have a dce and energy gain to KO his garchomp off the bat. Since I use Earthquake and he has to bring up something with retreat there is no way he can ambipom G me (if he plays it.) So he brings up Misdreaveous evolves attachs and uses call for Luxray Garchomp. I know that he can potentially KO me with Garchomp and one is already discarded so I KO his other one with dragon rush.
I knew he would go for the chatot I played first round to KO with bite as it had a damage from EQ allowing me to reuse dragon rush >.>. This allows me to KO his other luxray most likely putting him in a position where if he gets the aaron's and puts stuff on the bench I will be able to KO it before he can level up.. nice. I am sure he knew this because he opted not to use the aaron's which he cyrus'd for last turn. He would have to KO my Garchomp with Ambipom G however after not seeing him go for it at all He might not of even been running it or it might of been prized. I spray some uxies and he discards 2 of my energy gains with mismagius not in the same turn though. I get to dragon rush some more and it ends up being a really really significant lead.

So I make top 8 however I wish it was a top 16 because top 8 at a regionals is whack and we were so close last year.

Anyways I get to play Sebastian again.
And Connor Andrew and I get in to top 8. 3/ 6 of the masters who came made it in to top 8. With it set up to have 3/4 in top 4 if we were all to win. It was also set up to be a repeat of Me and Andrew Vincze in the finals again we would just have to win a few more games.


Top 8 vs Sebastian w Dialga Chomp
1st game he just rolls me. He sprays my uxie and such to just have complete control. I scoop after 3 prizes are taken

2nd game he ends up starting with something dumb like azelf ? Anyways this allows me to move energy to it a ton and that can really mess up dialga chomp with its super wack energy lines. I don't exactly remember everything that happened as it is hard to differentiate what happened in what game for me. All I know is a lot of energy movement happened and I took the lead with time called on my turn. I don't wear a watch and keep track of time or anything either. I dont understand what the difference is between a timing device and a wrist watch lol. They expect people to not know how to tell how longs its been when they know when the game has started and can tell how long it has been ? It just luckily happened. I don't know if sebastian was set up to win the game or if I was able to take another prize or what not. The games are all intertwined in my mind.

vs luxchomp this would almost be an auto win and it didnt help when he went second and couldn't play any supporters even if he could. I go first attach and chatter his dialga I believe. He has no supporter. I roseannes for a garchomp and a crobat and flash bite the toxicroak he plays just in case he poketurns something I can snipe it makes him need 2 poketurn to prevent the KO and I attach a dce to my garchomp then retreat to crobat which is much less likely to be KO'd then chatot. he draws and all he can do is level up and pray I don't have it. But I do :/

its a sucky way to win but not many decks can beat luxchomp in SD

top 4 vs Henry with Gardevoir/ Palkia / Nidoqueen/ Dusknoir
I start with a very interesting hand which I figure actually would be ridiculous vs Gardevoir. Turn one I KO a ralts I believe by using a DCE expert belt and flash bite. I think he brings up a spirtomb and uses darkness grace. Which allows me to attach another DCE >.> and use Earthquake for 50 ( expert belt) and the 10 makes it a KO. This forces him to bring up his Gardevoir. He has no energy attached to it but instead is attaching to the bench Kirlia probably to turn it into a Gallade. Anyways I snipe some stuff and have all the cards to OHKO gallade with Uxie X when it comes out and he will lose all his energy. However he wagers me and then dark palms my luxray. I was so fail at wager today and lost 2/3 :/. I bring up uxie level up (yes I got the X off 3 cards) trade off for a collector to get the bronzong G crobat G and lucario GL I need to KO his gallade. He doesn't forfeit because he knows it will take him a long time to win game 2 and we will go to sudden death. He basically needs to win g1 to win this match unless I get horribad stuff game 2.

Game 2 was way more even and he starts giving me trouble and I can't really do much when its 2-3 but time is called on my turn and since I have taken 4 prizes I win game 2. I say sorry and explain how even if he won it would be pretty ridiculous for GG to beat Luxchomp in SD and he already knows that.

Top 2 vs Karl w/ Luxchomp

G1 well it was a lot closer then game 2 in prizes but he had control from the beginning. He got a sick start and was able to spray uxies when I crucially needed then.

G2 I hoped I would draw a good hand however it wasnt really and I started with brongzong g. Making him go first didn't really do much and he just pummeled me with basically the exact hand he had game 1 consisting of a cyrus luxury ball and SP goodies

I play the game out because its regionals and such and why would I forfeit game 2. I know right after he goes first and plays a garchomp I am assuming he drew( although he might not of played it active for fear of losing one early) would put him ahead as he could snipe turn 2 before I would even be able to level up putting me in a really really sucky situation. Power sprays are in hand when it messes me up and he just has everything to win.

The only thing that really sucks is that if I won I could of brought someone else who was over 18. Other wise with our provincal fundraising I would be getting a flight to nats for free anyways because my rating should be higher then anyone else in albertas. I get some more scholarship money which is nice. It would of been nice to win regionals again but meh
