Old energies in Nintendo format?

I know it's a little stupid to ask, but I'm still curious. Will Nintendo's EX:R/S format allow the old versions (Neo-EXP) versions of Metal and Darkness energies in their tournaments? I know it's a little strange of me to ask since I don't have a single R/S card (except the promos), but I still wanna know.

i dont think they would. the new ones are a lot less powerful (deadly to self? you decide). and having two different versions of the same card floating around could get fun.

so... yeah. i highly doubt they'll allow the old versions (by that meaning the the old ones are now played like the new ones).

I think you're still allowed to use it but you play them as they're the R/S versions

Just think of all the old archetypes that died with Nintendo taking over the game (Metal Chansey, Rocket's Zapdos, etc.), as well as there being archetypes that never were (Metal Wailord EX, etc.)

In future events organized through Pokemon Organized Play, Metal and Darkness Special Energy cards will need to be played as those Energy cards in Ruby & Sapphire.

On the upside, we'll keep the intent as printed. It was difficult to explain details during the translation process, but we have the correct idea now.

You lost me there, Jimmer.
Care to expand on that a bit?

The thing I'm curious about is whether I'll be allowed to use old base set 2 Basic Energy Cards in a Nintendo Modified deck, or will I need to get loads of boosters to build my energy reserves again?

i would assume basic energy is basic energy. its all the same card as far as wording goes (read: none), so i dont see why you wouldnt be allowed old energy. *hugs pile of holo energy*

Gotta say tho' I like the RS holo energy even more than the big pile of WotC holo Energy....

The way I see it is that we can use a card that is reprinted regardless of the set it is from but you use the latest template for the card unless told otherwise ... just like WotC OP really then :)

You'll notice they kept the same card backs.

They did that exactly so that people will be able to play old cards and old versions of cards.

You can play your old Basic Energy.
