Well, it depends on who is playing the deck and what Team Aqua cards it contains. I think a Team Aqua deck with a focus on Special Conditions is really powerful, using 4 Aqua's TM 01 and the rare Sharpedo and Kyogre. Efficiency with those decks is very easy, with all the drawing and searching.

I dunno. I think some Team Aqua decks are actually worth while. For instance, I have seen Team Aqua's Walrein/Suicune ex, Team Aqua's Kyogre/Team Aqua's Sharpedo, and Team Aqua's Lanturn/Team Aqua's Manectric decks go quite far in tournaments. Still, Team Magma, Prime-Tool, Monarchy, and Dark Tyranitar constantly destroy them...

I think that a Team Aqua deck was decent before EX: Fire Red/Leaf Green, but then it merged w/ Blastoise EX and Milotic (some of them run Milotic for it's Poke'mon Power) to form the "Modified Raindancer" Archtype. For example, before, TA used Archies to swarm out TA Walreins and combo them with cards like TA Manectric and the like. Now, it uses Dunsparce to pump out Squirtles and the possibly Feebas/Mantine and then evolves to Blastoise EX via Rare Candy (that card must be universally GOD in some decks).

I had a new kid show up to my league about six weeks ago and all he had were a jumbled up mess of mostly unlimited cards. He had a TA Kyogre and a TA Walrein. They were about the best Modified cards he had and since I have an over abundance of TA/TM cards I decided to build him a TA deck. I flat out gave him many good cards (many rare trainers, 2 Manectrics, 2 Walrein, Kyogre), plus sleeves and a deck box. It is basicly set up exactly the same way the popular Magma decks are with a few considerations to the differences such as the Archie/Maxie difference. It runs extreemely well and would be taking near the top spots of my weekly tournaments if he could figure out how to run it. I've tried to show him but TA/TM decks can be difficult to figure out and he is still stuck on not letting a Pokemon of his get knocked out at almost any cost so he has given up on it. Conclusion: I think TA decks can still be good if built and run properly. I actually think that TA decks are stronger than TM decks right now because TM gets owned by Monarchy and TA is actually a good counter to Monarchy. Plus you can adjust your playing style to counter stuff like Jumpluff and you've got electric to counter Pidgeot, DK Crobat and Zapdos EX. Not sure how it'd work against Speedrill.

Sorry for the double post but I forgot to mention that I think the main reason that the Japaneese players chose to run Magma over Aqua is that it is a much better counter to the Blaz/Ray decks that were so prevalent at the time not to mention Gardy.

Now I seem to remeber taking 4th at a City Championship with Team Aqua. I took out the top ranked player in the 15+ category after we cut to the top 8, leaving the door open for your 2nd place finish.

It was really funny because while doing the deck checks, he kept saying I didn't deserve to be in the top 8. I pointed out that it was all his fault that I was there, since I only made the cut based on my tie-breaker and we had played earlier in the day.

During that first match he had a little Fried Fish for lunch, but when it really counted, I just washed away his BEX deck. Of course I had 4 prizes before he found his Pidgeot and his High Pressure System (to bump Desert Ruins.) And his Rayquaza ended up in the prizes.

Back to the Team Aqua Deck: I have a great time playing it. It only wins about 50% of tournament games, but I love playing it in League.
