110 HP and resistance are good, but 4 retreat and X2 fire weakness are always bad. The first attack is a pretty common one. It is ok, but nothing crazy. The second attack has cool effects on both sides of the coin, but not enough damage output for the energy cost

The weakest of the Tangrowths, but the effects of its attacks are devastating making it more playable than the others. Grind takes up too much energy (a whopping ) to do damage but with the help of its level up can speed it up a bit. Plow Over is costly ![]() ![]() for 30 damage but its energy requirement justifies for its secondary effect having to paralyze or remove an energy attachment from your opponent to the lost zone. HP is great for a first stager and okay with the level up. Resistance to is amazing! ***rados will have trouble OHKO this one. Not to mention the potential rescue energies it'll be discarding from it. And when Gyarados is rotated, Kingdra will take its place, and will require a 2HKO or 3HKO against Tangy. Weakness is still good. Grass will meet its match once Chandelure debuts. I call it! Right here. Chandelure is gonna be broken. Retreat Cost... well... Politoed? no... Metagross? no... Flygon? maybe... Switch/WarpPoint? probably... Screwed? inevitable. Kick butt? Definitely. Lv. X can help it survive if trapped in the active state. Not to mention, its attack that prevents its opponent from attacking by paralyze and energy disruption. Basic...There are plenty of Tangelas with many different cool effects. One being released with this Tangrowth having a Nutritional Support that helps with energy attachments. The one from Stormfront also has an Ingrain that searches for an energy and prevent damage with head flip. Tangela has great HP for a basic. ![]() has the best support Poke-Powers and Poke-Bodies out there. This Tangrowth is ShayminX-compatible. Its energies can easily be Energy Transed by Meganium or Sceptile. Venusaur SV and Tangrowth are tentacle-buddies (inurendo), Venusaur protects Pokemon from special conditions. Not to mention, Tangrowth is compatible with the following battlegrounds: Miasma Valley, Dawn Stadium, Broken Time-Space, and Burned Tower.Tangrowth gets 8/10. |

plow over isnt the best. costs alot. with little damage output. and the chance of lzing a enegry is ok and same with the chance of paralyze. if they said flip 2 coins. if 1 was heads the oppoent's pokemon is paralzed, if both are heads then paralyze and LZ an energy. the hp of 110 is good for a stage 1 but ive seen better(steelix prime, donphan prime). its first attack isnt too well either. reatreat of 4 is way much. if i ran a tangrowth deck i would run 3 SF and 1 lv x. i just dont think plow over is useful in this format. 4/10

Wha...this definitely wasn't up yesterday >.>
Anyways, yesterday's CotD was Tangrowth from CL, another rather poor Rare. Statwise 110 HP is nice for a Stage 1, x2 Weakness to is eh, -20 Resistance to is nice, and ![]() ![]() ![]() to Retreat is expensive. Grind is ok for for 20x the number of Energy on Tangrowth. Plow Over is just rather bad at ![]() ![]() for a mere 30 and either Paralysis with Heads or sending an Energy on the Defending to the Lost Zone with Tails.Modified - 2/10 (Really no reason to use this over the better Tangrowth alternatives, which aren't used anyways) Limited - 7/10 (Ok largely because he's a great sponge for damage, and Grind can be built up to impressive damage) Unlimited - 1/10 (Why would you ever use this here? Horrid Retreat and bad attacks warrants it no use here) |
