water deck for nationals?
Okay, I'm not sure if this is as plausible as i want it to be, but i think it is a pretty good anti metagame, and actually it works pretty well. Let me know any thoughts, adjustments or additional comments on the deck you can think of.
The idea is Poliwrath is the heavy attacker. Politoed makes retreat free and easy to switch in and out. Wailord is an early game wall and a late game attacker. Attack with poliwrath late game, switch out with Politoed to wailord and deal the finishing blow. 4-3-4 2 Poliwrath 2 Politoed 3-3 Wailord 3 Mantine 2-2 Zoarark 4 team rocket trickory ( i like this because it is a little harder to draw cards in the new format, so i'm a fan of discarding) 4 Pokemon Communication 1 flower shop lady 2 Pokemon Collector 3 Research records 2 Professor Elms 2 PONT 2 interviewers 2 Rare candy 10 water energy 4 double colorless The deck calls for a lot of early energy, and late game energy so that is why there is a lot of it. I think this has a lot of potential, but i'm not sure if it is the best idea. Also yes i know it gets wrecked by electric decks, however i'm not sure they will be so popular in nationals. Okay i had an idea, add Zoarark for the electric counter, double colorless with foul play to counter. I know it isn't super strong, but i think it is a pretty good and easy counter to pull off. My friend, the current most popular deck, and one of the most successful, is Magneboar. Which is Magnazone Prime and Emboar combined. AKA an Electric type. I think the concept is interesting, but I just don't think it will survive with Magnebaor around. Not to mention Zekrom. Hope I helped.

Yeah i know, and I know this doesn't look the best, but if i can set up a line faster i think things can go in my favor, i'm going to play test it out this weekend. However yeah i'm well aware of this threat, and idk how well it will work. Just an idea I had, maybe there is no potential in it, but i will give it a try.

I've actually thought about Poliwrath a time or two, interesting card. I'd say go for it.
As for Exaclibar's der comment, saying lightning weakness is an issue since Magnezone is the big attacker is dumb since Magnezone can OHKO ANYTHING regardless of weakness, so don't let that be an issue. And, Zekrom runs PP and only falls 10 shy w/o weakness, so it doesn't change much.

I appreciate you're positivity, You think it has potential though? I have a Ttar deck too, but I just don't think it sets up quite as well, but it is more reliable so i just really don't know which way to go.
---------- Post added 07/03/2011 at 08:04 PM ---------- bump for update adding in zoroark for an electric counter? |

okay changed my mind. I am thinking a 2-0-2 of krookodile for the electric counter and just using torment. shuts down a lot of different common primes. Magnezone prime could not even attack. I think it works pretty well, and has more health than zoraork.
