Iron Chef Top 4!

Alright guys, welcome to the round of Top 4. What a journey this has been guys, but here we are with the final four remaining players in this tough Iron Chef tournament. This round will be something of intrigue. The challenges will still have no metagame, because I really dislike a metagame. The best deck wins imo.

The final four players are

Cyrus
Bullados
Goldedda
Waynegg

Cyrus vs Bullados

Goldedda vs Waynegg.

This challenge will also play host to a very special guest judge.
Jason K(Ness) has agreed to take part in judging this challenge. He will use the same score system as I do...and hopefully give a statement on each deck if he has the time for it. I think this is the better option to make 100% sure we know who is the top 2 players in the game.

The challenge is as follows..

SINGLETON!!!! 40 card deck, 4 prizes

This mean you may only run 1 single of any card, trainers included. No matter if it is a star or an EX, one single of any card. The exception are energies.

BAN LIST
Rare Candy
Cleffa(from any set)
Uxie
Claydol
SP Pokemon

To make clear of what your objective is, make the best singleton deck possible. Use any strategy, be creative, make it consistant, and abuse card use. The Metagame is other Singleton 40 Card 4 Prize decks. Here is another kicker, you may use any card from any released set from Base to NV. Any promo you would like that was never a "banned" card in any format in America.

Also, there will be online play, no if and's or but's about it.
The online way of playing will be Redshark and Redshark only.
You will be playing 3 games...each win is worth 1 point.

Once again, The challenge is Singleton 40 card deck 4 Prizes.

There is an online challenge, Redshark only. 3 game match each game worth 1 point for the winner.
Format is All Pokemon sets, promos, secret rares, anything that was once a legal card in a format in the tcg era.
Only 1 card of the same name can be used, no matter if is a star or ex, etc. Exception is energy..

The deadline is Saturday Dec 11. 9pm
Online game deadline is 13th of Dec. It is each players resposibility to set up their own games, and actually play there games.

I hope this is a tough challenge , I gave you guys a bunch of time, I will not be available for around 11-12 days, Navy related this.

"Only 1 card of the same name" makes a Legend's illegality pretty clear, but can they be made an exception to this rule?

Also, "any banned card in any format" would amount to the following being banned:

*Slowking Neo Genesis
*Sneasel Neo Genesis (and UD Sneasel)
*____'s Pikachu
*Ancient mew
*Wormadam Sandy Cloak

Is that a complete and accurate list?

In what format was UD Sneasel banned? It's an almost identical reprint, but not identical; you can't use NG Sneasel in Modified decks, in place of UD Sneasel. Was it the Professor Cup, where Sandy Cloak Wormadam was also banned?

Eh, my mistake on Sneasel UD. As for Wormadam, yes: it was banned for the C/U Professor Cup.

EDIT: double nvm, since that list applies only to banned promos...Which means that Sneasel and Slowking are both legal.

Sneasel was banned in it's format. The Sneasel UD was NOT banned, it was legal.
Wormadam Sandy Cloak is NOT illegal, I mean format as in DP-on for example. It was banned for prof. Cup only.

Reread everything...Supporters, stadiums can be up to 4, just trainers must be one.

Energy can be endless no matter if it's basic or special...well, max of 4 special energy of a kind. I.e. 4 rescue, 4 rainbow etc.

That should be a bit more clear. You said limit one per Trainer. Supporters and Stadiums are a subclass of Trainer, with Item being the third category.

Sorry. more confused than ever now. so the format is wide open other than the banned cards and we can use multiples of any card we like? so not singleton then? just want to make sure what the actual challenge is.

baby mario has graciously agreed to play for me online since it's impossible for me to do so on redshark. i've tried many times to connect and play with rogue archetype and it's never worked. does anyone take issue with this?

Here is my understanding of the challenge.

You are building a 40 card deck, 4 prizes.

You can use no more than one of any card name except for Basic Energy.

You can use any cards from Base Set through Noble Victories.

You can NOT use Candy, Cleffa, Uxie (LA only?), Claydol (GE only?), or any SP Pokemon.

You can NOT use any Promo Card that was officially banned at Modified or Unlimited tournaments.

Then you came on and posted this:

OK, so now the Singleton limitation is only on Pokemon and Trainers? This completely contradicts everything you posted in the OP.

The language in the initial post is about as clear as mud, and it makes creating a deck for the format completely impossible.

^Me too. As for me, for now I'll build strictly to the challenge as originally issued with no more than one of any T/S/S or Pokemon of the same name in my deck. Anything outside of those restrictions isn't Singleton. It's clearly stated this is a Singleton Challenge.

I believe the ambiguity may be purposeful. There's a huge difference between what a deck "may" have and what it "can" have.

...I think you're reading too much into it, since the can/may clauses actually differ even in the original post for the same thing. The rules are just not clear, and they need to be clarified.

He replied to my email, as well as Cyrus's who I'm sure can back me on this, so this should clear things up for us. Good luck goldedda, cyrus, and bullados!

Oh- and Vegeta asked me to get back with him to make sure everyone understands. He also said he would extend the deadline if need be should there are any more concerns.
