The UK Pokémon Trading Card Game Champions are Crowned

Six Pokémon trainers fly to the 2012 Pokémon World Championship in Hawaii this August!

Monday 9th July 2012 – London, UK:- This weekend the 2012 UK National Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) Championships took place at The Pavilion, Wicksteed Park in Kettering, culminating in the crowning of six UK National Champions and the formation of an elite group of finalists ready to battle against the world’s best this August at the 2012 Pokémon World Championships in Hawaii.

After many intense battles Zoe Kennington, age 10, from Linlithgow, Ryan Moorhouse, age 13, from Huddersfield and Alex Northey, age 16, from Exeter triumphed over their competitors in the three age classes: Juniors, Seniors and Masters respectively.

These highly skilled players, will now take up their places in the most prestigious Pokémon event of the year: The Pokémon World Championships. Competitors from the UK will join players from countries all over the world including the US and Japan and will battle it out over three days to determine the Pokémon Trading Card Game World Champions.

The UK TCG National Championship is the premiere event in the UK Play! Pokémon series calendar, a series which started in September. Lots of players queued in front of The Pavilion from early in the morning anxious for the first rounds to begin. Once again this year, all players and finalists proved their skills and determination as Pokémon Trainers and competed tirelessly for the UK Pokémon Champion title until late in the evening.

RESULTS OF THE UK POKÉMON TRADING CARD GAME CHAMPIONSHIP AT A GLANCE:

Junior Division (born 2001 or later):

1. Place: Zoe Kennington (age 10)
2. Place: Omar Ben-Gacen (age 10)
3. Place: Nathaniel Majakas (age 11)
4. Place: Charlie Vale (age 11)

Senior Division (born 1997-2000):

1. Place: Ryan Moorhouse (age 13)
2. Place: Philip Rowley (age 13)
3. Place: Sam Marshall-Smith (age 14)
4. Place: Rhys Williams (age 13)

Masters Division (born 1996 or earlier):

1. Place: Alex Northey (age 16)
2. Place: Karl Blake (age 20)
3. Place: Sami Sekkoum (age 22)
4. Place: Matt Blower (age 21)

Since it may interest people, in Juniors, Nathaniel passed down his invite to 5th place finisher Adam Gregson.

In Masters Matt Blower passed down his invite, first to Johnny Hall who then passed it down once again to Freddy K.
