Prize boosters aren't private property? Jealousy part 4.
We are heading for Nationals and because we want to practise for this event, a tournament is set up by us.
It’s a non sanctioned tournament, giving players the change to try out the upcoming Hidden Legends expansion.
The location we always use is free at June 13, that’s 14 days prior to Nationals and 1 week after the first pre-release tournaments are played.
Perfect date, because at that time there are scans of the new set somewere on internet available , and we are not sanctioning this tournament. So every player can write on a piece of paper the details of any new card out of the HL expansion and play/test with it.
If any card of this new series appears to be use full they will have only 14 days to get one, but it’s possible.
And there is no better test than actual play a card, to know how it “behaves”.
It also gives us time to attend at any announced pre-release tournament in Belgium the weekend of day prior.
In Belgium nobody will forbid me to trade any card I want, but it also gives another opportunity.
If we go there with a lot of players, we are able to earn enough prize boosters. And if we all don’t open them and use them as prices for our own event it’s going to be great.
We talk with our players and all of them agree on lending us their price boosters. We promise to replace them as soon as possible. This way it’s possible to give any participating player a booster. Yes.
We announce the tournament and send a copy of the announcement to the LD.
Tournament details were included, stating that each player would receive a Hidden Legend booster.
Surprise we get an email back, that we didn’t look good enough at their website and that they are doing a Hidden Legends pre-release. That we and our players are welcome to become Hidden Legends boosters and a prerelase card before the release date.
The following information was added:
If you are deciding to do your own tournament at this date, I have to inform you that giving away boosters Hidden Legends is not allowed. Giving away Hidden Legends boosters is only allowed at the location of a pre-release tournament.
Wow it looks like a new rule is implanted regarding private property. Or is this a follow up of the ruling that pre-release cards are not allowed to trade (at least for me).
Since when is a LD deciding for me what I can of can’t do with my personal belongings.
Meaby a LD, PTO or TO organizing a pre-release is not allowed to give boosters away of a set before the release date (beside the tournament prices) but what has this to do with me.
I’m organizing a private NON-sanctioned tournament and as prices we are giving away items we legally own.
I didn’t think about this anymore until January 2005 but this will be explained later.
Our tournament was nice a lot of players tested their Nationals deck.
Most players couldn’t even effort to play a 20 Euro pre-release and 2 weeks later a 15 Euro Nationals.
The Pre-release was with 17 players not really a success, and I heard afterwards that a new ruling applied.
Sealed deck is played with 40 up to 60 cards in a deck.
TO of this pre-release, surprise the LD. Head Judge I don’t know, but I can verify that with a player present at that pre-release.
So rules or NO rules or Own rules???
Who cares about rules??
We think that each official sanctioned tournament should be played, judged with the same set of rules.
We also think that for each and every player/LO/TO/PTO the same set of opportunities and rules should be apply. Which should mean each PTO is offered the same contract/opportunities, Each TO is following the same (floor)rules, Each Person can become LO according equal conditions. Each player should be able to earn the same prices worldwide at a similar named tournament.
But who are we? 4 suspended players because we want equality and rules to be followed.
Tbc next episode Nationals.

What it appears to be is a struggle between the LD and Lia about who delivers the best OP in country. It seems in Holland that the LD thinks they can only succeed where others fail, and is actively working to achieve that.

atually i dun see any harm to give out boosters as prize..
i mean this is the TO choice rite?
they can also choose to give out OP boosters which the players will hate..
so why create problems when there is no problems?

Like I said before; the 3 suspended players/judges/TO's/LL's are excellent players/judges/TO's/LL's, so ...
