If you have not seen my post yet(all help is appreciated) click here.
Anyway I have been testing out SMW(steelix ex,walrein hl,magcargo, jirachi hl) aka Metal-blaze. IT actually works sometimes even better than blaziken ever did. Even though it has a high retreat cost, it dosent really matter he can last a long time out there. With metal energys steelix ex can have up to 190 hp makign it almost invincebel to any attack. To take care of fire pokemon you got walrein(although i have to make changes in my deck so i can use it). OF course to bing back the enegys you lost you have Energy Reycle System and Holon farmer which allow you to bring back 3 energys fro myour discard pile. Hopefully this could become a new archetype like blaze did. Though i bet most ppl wont belive this could be ever like blaze, but you never know until you try it out. Boy,Grandmajoner gonna be happy ![]() Discuss... |

1. Walrein won't OHKO any fire threat, and the only real fire threat would probably be a fire ttar, the fire sally, or something else, and those two arent even weak to water.
2. It has to have a stage 2 and a stage 1 to get working, and neither of those stages are the same as the main attacker, unlike blaze. For that reason, it cannot be as fast as blaze. 3. Unlike getting the energy from the discard, it gets from the deck, so you have to use other cards to get cards from the discard back into the deck, those cards wouldn't even need to be in a blaze, so they're obviously making this new deck slower and more cumbersome. 4. Steelix has a pretty bad retreat, and it's type isn't as good as blaze. You won't be seeing metal-weak pokemon, and there were fire-weak pokemon... this made blaze more playable. Its weaknesses were also good, water/psychic weren't played as much, and water was almost unheard of. Fire/Fighting are very big types, look at queen and medidoom, and other pokemon like cargo. 5. Your main attacker is killed over by a searcher, magcargo. SO many decks play cargo, and so many have teched in UF cargo, it seems this deck's main attacker will face a cargo/UF cargo in like 25% of its matches, then what, you're going to use mediocre attackers? 6. Blaze at least had rayquaza as a GOOD backup, and even deoxys. It also had the ability to tech cards in like a milotic ex line, or whatever you wanted. It was very fluid and manipulative with switch cards and good retreats. Everyone in your deck has 3+ retreat. What are you aiming to do? get pow! locked? No switches or warps? Blaze had more ability to move and this deck has NO ability to move. And for YOUR deck personally, I'll do a little critique: 5 draw? good luck with setup I don't see how you can afford all these cards: 2 stage 1s(need at least 2 out to work the combo[steelix/cargo] and 3 to get a good game[2 cargos/1 steelix] 1 stage 2 you need at least 4 cards to get energy back into the deck you need cards to get the setup, you need 3 different lines running, you need a starter and you need to get the starter up there so that means 8 slots for swoop/starter too many needed cards ~_~ I'll assess matchups: ludi=loss(UF cargo? Much faster and with better techs?) queen=loss(weakness? queen is ridiculously fast and can take 100 damage easily) powcham=loss(weakness? no powers=your strategy dies, 3 retreat cost and no switches/warps/briney=the easiest lock EVER) smp=loss(it's faster and can take a beating.) rocklock=loss(a few spinning tails and you'd fold. RL itself even has a fighting attacker to destroy steelix) What decks does this beat exactly? Shall I go on as to why this is obviously an inferior blaze?

Steelix ex just isn't viable...
no good way of powering it up, unlike blaziken. ive seen just about every perspective and rogue way of running steelix, and none of them worked. and if your does work, ill be seeing it and my good friends bobby and omar will be playing vs you, so theyll see the deck too.

That aside, no. Steelix has 150 HP and 4 metal energies. NOT 190HP. Or it can say a happy hello to HL Metang (Metal ball, put 5 damage counters on the Defending Pokémon), Medicham ex, UFO Jynx... Also, a problem with Steelix is its inability to be T2'd.

This deck will be to slow, in all honesty, It will be to slow, because like Ryan has said before, you need 1 Stage 2/stage 1, and in all truth, you actully in order to have a good set up, you need to have 2 of each(Walrein, Magcargo), which causes the deck to be slow.
