He is the world champion, yet he acts very ...childish lets say. I think everyone on the gym has seen a post by jermy that makes us go, huh? Sometimes it's something really weird like bidding on a soul on ebay, other times it can be a really confusing statement or a really obvious question to some good players eyes.
Being the World Champion certainly can fuel jealousy among other good players, but I think this situation is more than that. It would be similar to a guy dressed as a clown winning every golf tournament, it would infuriate the more serious players even more than if it was just another player who appears to be working hard winning, and taking the game seriously like they are. I'm not saying this situation is fair to Jeremy, but it's the best comparison I could make of the situation. I know Jeremy works hard at the game. I know Jeremy is a pretty good player. He made a very good deck vs me in the grinder of Iron Chef, the only one of my opponents that had an idea that really took me by surprise. He also made the Ampharos tech making BAR with Blaziken two years ago. I see the really weird posts by him too sometimes and have to wonder where his skill level really is though. I don't think he deserves some of the treatment he's gotten from other good players, but I think the golf analogy shows why players are a bit more ticked at last years outcome than say the recent Nats outcome.

Ross pretty much hit it on the head. He's done better work with decks than people give him credit for, but a huge contrast to what we saw in Tsuguyoshi Yamato. In two days, Yamato made mince-meat of the United States' best (including Martin/Fulop), and at worlds '05, did a great job with a bad Ludi list, especially for the worlds metagame. Jeremy, on the other hand, went an average record going into the cut (6-2), and proceeded to get taken to a game three against every matchup, all seemingly great for his Queendom other than the mirror (10-5).
It looks bad to most serious players when we go from an undefeated champion to a winner with less than 70% wins, but a lot of the negative sentiment's from jealousy, for sure. A lot of the things I've heard are understandable, but an equal amount of things are skewed or just in completely bad taste. God, I hate gossip, lol.

I don't, and I think everyone who does should just grow up. Sure, he gooffs (sp) off, but we all need some comedy in our lives, now don't we? Otherwise, I think the world would be a very dull place.

Jeremy saw a lot of good matchups at Worlds last year. He got pretty lucky at Worlds last year. He made a fair amount of misplays at Worlds last year. But he still ended up World Champion. He knew the right people, playtested like there was no tomorrow, and with a little luck, like it or not, he won the whole thing. Whether or not he deserves doesn't really matter, but it still leaves "those other players" bitter. |

Jermy is an amazing fellow.
I've done tons of trades with him and he seems like the nicest fellow EVER. So, so stop bugging and leave the man alone, he's a world champion, and you wannabes know you are a little jealous. Jermy always gives me super fair deals and sends right away when he finalize. What's there not to like?

Because Jeremy doesn't exactly fit in to the elite mold, and frankly those players can go...
Anyway Jeremy is awesome, he makes good decks and he has won Worlds too, I will always root for him! |

Because a solid 90% of the things he says is simply stupid or incomprehensible. Basically, he doesn't act like a real champion- he is extremely immature, bizarre, asks stupid questions, and a lot of other things that generally make people mad at him.
I'll list examples, I suppose. 1. I can't count how many times he's posted a thread asking "how a deck works". Or "what's in a deck". It's just ridiculous considering he was on LaFonte and is a WORLD CHAMPION, but can't understand, or feels the need to act stupid? Let's face it, if you're going to act stupid, people will treat you as if you are stupid. 2. He says and does ridiculous things. "I come from Mars." He bid on a SOUL on eBay. Half the things he says just make no sense, it's almost frustrating to read what he says. 3. He's illogical and hypocritical. He says LaFonte is a mob and is a bad group of people, but he was ON LAFONTE. When someone makes a logical point to him, he feels the need to attack them personally. http://pokegym.net/forums/showpost.p...9&postcount=49 http://pokegym.net/forums/showpost.p...1&postcount=50 Benlugia makes a logical post, saying the reasoning behind why people say "our world champion" and jeremy's response is both idiotic (absurd: incongruous;inviting ridicule;) and is a personal attack, trying to insult benlugia's credibility. He then goes on to say that "all lafontes act the same" even though he WAS A 'LAFONTE'. That just sounds stupid to anyone who knows anything about him. How can you seriously say all lafontes act the same when you were a part of the group? That would mean that he, too, is the same as them. Not only that, but the kind of responses he makes (trying to pick fights because someone said 'our world champion' and refusing to accept any logical examples or perspectives as to why it is said...) is just disturbing. 4. He incites this attention. It's obvious he tries to make a point to alienate himself by ONLY posting absurdities and illogical statements. He invites this sort of feeling. 5. Some people might be upset because of unknown circumstances. Like why he's not on LaFonte anymore. 6. I don't think it's an issue of jealousy. I think it's an issue of legitimacy. Jeremy had a mediocre showing, like Patriarch said, and before Worlds he'd never done well at any other tournament. It's hard to not call out the legitimacy of his win and skill when he only got to worlds by having to go to Canada and not even win their nationals, but get 3rd or 4th or something, and fly himself out. So, he didn't win a state, regional, GC, or even T16 nats last year, but goes on to win worlds. When you win only ONE event, win NOTHING else, and make the kind of foolish remarks and posts that he does, is it NOT understandable to question his legitimacy as a world champion?

See, there are rational explanations. Also, this, like many things, seems to come down (at least partially) to elitism. People get all bent out of shape and start saying things are wrong whenever people that they consider to be master players don't win the crap out of everything.

I mean like if u topdraw something that luck. So if he win world well said good thing dont bring up crap about him. I doubt if u like if anyone talk stuff about u so just leave the guy along..... IF the guy want to be a clown well cheer him on to become a clown , hey it just me or what i love going to see clown get hit by pies so if he can be another clown well good luck...
