Delta Forge (DX-On)

Delta Forge

Pokemon (20)
Fire (20)
4 Horsea HP
3 Seadra HP
3 Kingdra HP
4 Mankey HP
3 Primeape HP
3 Mewtwo DS

Trainers (22)

Stadiums (5)
2 Holon Lake
3 Holon Research Tower

Supporters (15)
4 Holon Adventurer
3 Holon Mentor
3 Holon Researcher
3 Holon Transceiver
2 Professor Birch

Tools (2)
2 Fluffy Berry

Energy (18)
12 Fire
2 Delta Rainbow
4 Metal

This is a deck I came up with shortly after getting back into the game. Finally got it built, but in testing, well, it doesn't work. :) It seems to have trouble getting Energy, Kingdra seems to take too long to set up, and it turned out that I completely misread Mewtwo. I thought that it could move all of the Energy to itself like Rayquaza EX. So far, the only thing that does seem to be working in here is Primeape. So, any suggestions to how I can fix this deck?

Very good start on the deck- Primeape is a very decent card. Check this link out to see why (you might have to scroll down a bit):

That's WHY primeape is working. Also, many people have overlooked kingdra delta- It's good you're looking into its capabilities, and personally, it's my favorite card. nikx1 might be refering to Wally's Training, Prof. Elm's Training Method, or Celio's Network- I would use Celio's Network, as it is flexible and can get out both basics and evolutions.

nikx1- you have a good start on making this deck smoother.

Keep up the good work guys!

Thanks for the help! Now, what should I run instead of the Mewtwos?

Trainers can pretty much make or break a deck. Trainers are there to help get you setup, and if you don't have the right trainers, then you might not get setup at all.

You have:

Trainers (22)
3 Switch - 3 Switch isn't needed that much. You should probably take it down to 2.
3 Holon Research Tower - It's not a bad card in a delta deck. It definitely helps pay for attacks that require metal energy.
3 Power Tree - Not a bad idea either other than the fact that the second of your special energy hit the discard pile, Power Tree becomes useless. Also, most of the time, 6 stadiums aren't needed. The average is 4 right now, and some run 5 just to be safe incase their deck is hurt by a lot of stadiums.
4 Holon Adventurer - A good card, and it can be tied to a great engine, you just need to work on that engine.
3 Holon Researcher - Same as Adventurer.
3 Wally's Training - Wally isn't that useful. I'd rather Researcher early than Wally.
3 Sitrus Berry - Healing is alright, but the game has really gotten to the point where healing just doesn't cut it. You'd be better off with just throwing in Fluffy Berries so your kingdra could free retreat and you could lower the switch down to a warp point and lower it to 1.

Okay, this is how I would run the trainers. 22.

3 Holon Transciever (Delta Species) - The spine of the holon engine. It grabs you any holon supporter from your discard or deck so you can reuse the supporters in large numbers.
3 Holon Adventurer (Holon Phantoms)
2 Holon Researcher (Delta Species)
2 Holon Mentor (Delta Species) - Just in case you need to get basics out of your deck.
3 Prof. Birch (Emerald I think) - With all the discarding from playing the holon engine, Birch is an awesome card to play.
2 Holon Researching Tower (Delta Species)
2 Holon Lake (Holon Phantoms) - Great card. Any delta pokemon can use an attack for 1 colorless energy, search your deck for any delta pokemon and put it in your hand. So it's like a free celio or researcher in the early game.
2 Fluffy Berry (Unseen Forces)
1 Warp Point (Unseen Forces I think)

Pokemon-wise, I don't see a huge connection between Kingdra and Primeape. Primeape is more of a fast stage 1 type attacker that should be in a swarm type deck, where Kingdra is a slower stage 2, that could probably work with a helper stage 1 and maybe even a helper basic. If you wanted to lower the Mentor count, you could run a helper basic like EX: Deoxys Plusle where for one colorless, it allows you to search your deck for 2 basics and put them on your bench. I really don't have any ideas of what pokemon you could team up with Kingdra. It would definitely help if it was delta, so you could abuse Delta Lake and Delta Research Tower. Maybe look into EX: Holon Phantoms Golduck. If you have a Holon Stadium in play, your opponent cannot play a stadium of their own. That is definitely a nifty advantage in the game. And golduck can sit on the bench and pull this off.

Energy-wise, Delta Rainbow energy would work well in this deck. It's a card out of Holon Phantoms that provides 1 of any type of energy as long as it's on a delta pokemon. So it's a rainbow energy without the 10 damage or a multi energy without the problematic shutting down if multiple special energy are attached.

I wish I could help out more. Good luck with your deck Terry (?)

Okay, I made some changes based on these suggestions. I'm still not sure what to do about the Mewtwos.

Last night in an actual game, I saw some of how the deck is supposed to work. I had Primeape up throwing Stadiums at my opponent while I built up Kingdra. If needed, I used Flames of Rage. Mewtwo, I never actually used.

So, I'm still open to any suggestions here. Unless someone knows of a better combination for Kingdra, I'll keep Primeape in.

hmmm, Mabey find a pokemon with an attack that does damage to your bench to increase Primeapes attack.

I'm still not sure what to put in for Mewtwo's spot. I'm thinking Chimecho Delta, Dunsparce LM, Latias Delta (Spearhead), Magmar LM, or Torkoal LM.

for mewtwo's spot, i might pick minun from deoxys- it gets back ANYTHING from your discard-stadiums, draw, pokemon, energy-and yes, you found out exactly how the deck works. primeape bashes until you bring out the heavy hitter (kingdra).

I would try

-2 Mewtwo d
+2 Minun (Deoxys)

keep it up! and good job (I want to build this for myself!)
Sorry I didn't get back to ya sooner.

Okay, for now, I'm going to go with Zangoose HP. I already had one and pulled 2 more in the same booster last night, so I figured I'd go with it.

Zangoose, a quick beater works nicely- minun was more of a technical card, please keep us posted on how the 'goose works for you.
