pros and cons
is a pro a good thing and a con a bad thing? I saw in a book and they said that can is a good thing and pro is a bad thing.

they're prefixes.
Pro- gives the root word the sense of positiveness, or agreement. Con- gives the root word a contradictiory meaning, or disagreement.
