Darkness Energy

Does Darkness Energy apply before or after Weakness? In a tournament I was told it was after, but the card said before. I am using a RubySapphire card.

If you are using a new card, it says before. And even if you are using an old card, it still goes by the new card.
Don't know why a judge would think the card was wrong!
