Honchkrow vs. stance

What would happen if I where to use Dark Wing Flaps on a Lucario lv.x that had used stance?
The text for the attack makes it seem like an effect on your opponent, not Lucario, but then again, I have never heard of putting an effect on your opponent. So would you get to discard a card or not?

It can't damage Lucario, but the discard+shuffle effect would still happen. Stance only protects Lucario.

There are lots of cards now that put effects on the opponent.
It was when WotC ran the game that you could not put effects on the opponent and they had to reside on a Pokemon.

That has not been the case for years now.
