Lati-lock making a comeback?

As the meta game is lati-lock could see some play; Magmortar and Honchcrow seem to be popular all over the US. But with the next set a lot more bodies seem playable. Here are a few:

Sceptile's Overgrow
Wailord's Sleep Pulse
Milotic's Marvel Scale
Glaceon Lv. X's Freezing Breath
Espeon's Sunlight Veil
Primeape's Rage Target
Kabutops's Ancient Shell
Umbreon's Moonlight Veil

Those are the few that I saw that have a chance at being playable. A lot of hype surrounds Eeveelutions and Kabutops, but will they actually turn out to be metagame decks? Only time will tell. Your thoughts.

I agree that it will see more play once DP4 comes out but not every deck will have the bench space to play it though... hmm, too bad it doesn't shut down Darkrai Lv X....

Latilock has been very playable the whole CC series, its just that very few ever realized it. One of them being Chriscobi.

Why use Lati-lock when you can just throw in some Cessation Crystals? I mean, the EX ones are weak to Gardy, and the ones with the actual Power are weak to Bliss (not completely familiar with how a deck uses Lati-lock, but those are the Weaknesses). Cessation Crystal is more versatile imo and only really gets knocked off by Windstorm (which a good many decks don't bother with) or Pachirisu DP4, should it emerge as the choice starter.

why? 'cause Cessation shuts down your own powers.

You place them on your bench and say "lol".

Jake basically got it right: there's nothing to latilock, whereas with cessation you have to make sure you keep it out (easier said than done).

But on the title topic, I think that Latilock could make a reasonable comeback. With Link Wing, it won't even hurt consistency much to play it!

The only problem I find with Latilock is that they're basically dead bench weight, as they're not meant to attack obviously (unless you use an EX version in place of one of the Latis with the Power). There's also the odd chance one of the necessary duo will be prized, then there's searching them out in place of something else, etc...

Granted, Cessation Crystal requires you to be active, but considering there aren't very many attacks/effects that'll force a switch outside of Warp Point, the only real thing you have to worry about is being KOed, in which case you just pop out another Cessation Crystal.

Eh, I guess each has its own uses, depending on the deck.

cess. was useless to point out b/c a deck that runs powers isn't going to run cess. and a deck that doesn't run powers isn't going to run lati-lock.

Cess. Crystal isn't going to get the job done much anymore, and here's why: Pachirusu. To be honest, that card alone is what will kill of Cess. Crystal, since it cannot only eliminate a tool from the field, but ALSO from the hand, making things tricky. Lati-Lock would be SO much better then Cess., because the Latis are easy to get out, and while they take bench space, they at least help with disrupting the opponent, taking the bodies away, and making the game easier.

Playing powers and cess is a great tactic for expert players. Cess triggers only when you want it do, it doesn't "play itself" down.

who said you had to play the ex? either lati@s from HP has the body, so vs. magmortar the water one wouldn't be bad. 40 for 1 energy, resistance go Gallade, yes please.

Lati-Lock wasn't really worth it with the spread and Gallade running around for cities. It should make a comeback come states.

It dosn't matter. The thing is, there are to many good pkmn that can snipe one or the other on your bench leaveing you with a usless bench warmer.

as if we didn't have night maintenance or TSD to get them back. I would actually love if my opponent would snipe them because then they aren't hitting my main pokemon. In the mean time i would be hitting them back, and not just a simple 20 or 30, for much more. I know magmortar lv. x could OHKO any of the latis, but again that means your main pokemon aren't taking that blow.

While they snipe I'll have a heavy hitter knocking you out turn after turn. Most decks cannot afford to snipe a couple of turns to take out a benchwarmer.
edit:oops got to it before me.^^

If the opponent has to waste two attack turns to KO your lati@s component, then you probably just won the game anyways.

If the opponent happens to play magmortar or empoleon lvl xs then you might be in a tiny bit of pain SOME of the time.

Then you take into consideration TSD/NM are two of the most popular cards and your fears are gone.
