Unown G Vs Pachirisu

Can I use Pachirisu's second attack to discard an Unown G attached to my opponent's active? It was ruled at a pre that it is discarded because the Pachi is affecting the tool car, not the pokemon. I agree with this logic, but it took me off guard and I just wanted to confirm it.

No. That is wrong.
It is being discarded from the Pokemon, therefore it is an effect on that Pokemon and so it is blocked.
