Electivire DP is far too risky unless you swarm with Baby-Evolutioned Electabuzzes (doesn't have the built in recovery, making it combo weaker with its LV.X and making it able to attack less often). Elekid isn't a great starter by any means, and Electabuzz d starts happen enough that it's problematic. Electabuzz SW on the other hand, is a decent starter who's super effective against Phione and able to paralyze, greatly helping its usefulness while using fairly inexpensive attacks.
The biggest single problem I see with the deck though, is the energy you play. No special energy what-so-ever? So everytime Electivire SW attacks, you're willing to sacrifice all three energy attached to it, rather then have 2 energy discarded and keep one for next turn's ability to attack? Cyclone is an amazing card to help here. Call Energy wouldn't be a bad idea either, even with Pachirisu. A few more minor issues... - Energy Search... Just isn't efficient in here. 18 energy won't have a problem finding their way to your hands if you use good enough draw power. The inefficiency comes from not being able to play those energies you search for. Having a way to discard energies then Motor Drive them would be more effective use of those 4 card slots. Felecity's Drawing is a good start. TV Reporter might help too. - 4 Warp Point is 1 over the magic number that seems to work fairly well. 2 tends to be too low. 4... Well, Warp Points won't always come in handy every turn. Constant Warp Points make the opponent's set up almost as difficult to control as yours should be, which means you won't be able to pile damage controllably onto one pokemon. - The trainer engine is very simplistic, so it probably won't fail you too often. On the other hand, its lack of gambits makes it easy to predict and quite destructable by Gardevoir/Gallade. Tricks like Team Galactic's Wager can turn you upside-down really easilly without mass draw cards like Steven's Advice or your own Shuffle-Draw tricks. - Raikou... Is one of my favorite pokemon of all time, but this incarnation just doesn't mesh well with plenty of pokemon. Electivire is no different. The weaknesses of Electivire are a HIGH reliance on powers to keep energies in play, and the constant loss of ALL energies. A more effective second line might try to address these issues. Perhaps by featuring a quick attacker who can strike early and offset the fluctuation caused by Electivire's eratic attacks. Perhaps by featuring energy accelerators. Perhaps by helping you find cards faster. No ability to damage the bench seems like a problem for Raikou to solve, and the extra attachments from Raikou's attacks seem to cover the energy issues, except Raikou's attack is slow to start, causing problems early game, and Raikou's bench sniping is not making up for inconsistant damage from Vire. Bench sniping isn't what the doctor ordered, a way to make your set up parallel the opponent's is what the doctor recommends. |

In my electivire deck I am running:
Smeargle to put a lot of energy in my hand. Felicity to discard energy into the discard pile. 2-2 Voltorb/Electrode. Electrode will hit for 100 and blows himself up, but then becomes special energy to attach to the Electabuzz/Electavire's you are building on the bench. Electrode also has free retreat if you need it. 4-3-1 Electabuzz/Electavire SW and LV.X. Having special energy attached to active Electivire with LV.X allows you to leave one energy on if you have to do an energy discharge. Then next turn you can Motordrive again and you always have two energy for the LV.X to attack for 50. LV.X also adds 2 damage every time your opponent attaches energy so I have 2 premier balls to always keep a LV.X active. Cyclone energy for more special energy and disruption. Keep building more electivires on the bench and Motordriving more energy on. 3 Night Maintenance to keep from decking out. 2-1-2 Ampharos SW. Ampharos on the bench puts 1 damage on every pokemon every time opponent plays a supporter. Attacks for 70 with 130 hp if you run out of Electivires. |

Play this with Ampharos (SW) and Ampharos d (DF). then get out Fearow d (CG) to search out your pokemon, after they all turn delta.
And hey, you can add Electivire lv. X. Keep Raikou, and try a Holon's Castform. And if you're spreading damage all around, play Absol ex (PK). And 4 Super Scoop Up!

A few things about your new deck:
-Castform counts as a Lighting energy when attached and thus it will be discarded for Giga Impact. -If you don't have Vire lv.X, I'd recommend to put in a DP1 Vire and remove 1 DP3 Vire. Don't worry, you CAN still use Giga Impact to do 120 damage, as long as you have atleast 1 non Lighting energy attached. -I personnaly don't get the Raichu line. It's an attack you use in order to fetch energy from the discard. If that is the reason you use it, you might want to replace the 2 Raichu with 2 Pichu and replace the HP Pikachu with MT Pikachu. P.S I have changed my Vire deck. I got inspiration after reaading this thread and picked it up again. This is my new Vire decklist. ---------- Pokemon ---------- 4 (DP) Elekid - Evolves in Electabuzz and searches for energy. 4 (DF) Electabuzz - Power of Evolution spammer 2 (SW) Vire SW - Receycles energy 1 (DP) Vire DP - Attacks 1 Vire lv.X - Attacking/Tech 1 (SW) Raikou - Tech 3-2-3 (SW) Ampharos - Stall/Wall. Supporter Punisher and Damage Spreader. Total 21 ---------- Trainers --------- 2 Warp Point 1 Switch 1 Rare Candy 1 Roseanne's (Gets Elekid and Electabuzz at the same time) 1 Copycat 1 Night Maintenance 1 Premier Ball 2 Holon Mentor (Gets Elekid and Electabuzz at the same time) 3 TGW 2 Bebe's 2 Windstorm 2 Energy Switch 2 Energy Restore Total: 21 --------- Energy's --------- 11 :lightning 4 ![]() 3 Cyclone Energy Total: 18 Strategy: -Get a Ampharos active ASAP while swarming the Bench with Elekids and Baby Evolution to Electabuzz them for Power of Evolution. -Attach :lightning and 2 other energy to Ampharos to prevent energy wasteing when using it's Cluster Bolt effect. (The same goes with Giga Impact!!!) -While spaming PoE, try to Stall and spread damage with Ampharos as much as you can. -While setting up, you can play TGW when you have to or more PoE in play to disrupt and Stall. -When Raikou is on the Bench, you can use Energy Switch to use it's Thunder Rumble Poke-Power and still get an energy to your Active Pokemon. -Energy Restore helps you set up some more if you have lost to many energy while if you don't have the right Vire yet. This can also help to use Raikou's Poke-Power some more. - Don't evolve a Electabuzz in a SW Vire if you don't have the DP Vire. You will need the extra draw power. |
