who goes first

Hi i would like to know the latest ruling on how to determine who goes first. We used to roll a dice and the high roll went first. What happened to that?

The rule book says you must flip a coin to see who goes first. One player flips and the other calls heads or tails. You may use a die for the flip (even numbers are heads and odd numbers are tails). No "high roll".
