How do Foils work in pokemon?

Hey I was just wondering, what sets have the reverse holo foils, and how do foils work in pokemon? Are there foils of every card and sometimes you can get 1 ( like in magic the gathering) or is the foil system different?

Im new to pokemon so I wasnt sure.

Every set these days has a reverse foil of every card in the set, except for Lv Xs and secret ones (Time Space Distortion is the only one that's secret I think). And you get 1 random reverse foil in every booster pack (it can be common, uncommon, or rare).

From what I know, here's how the Foils work in the current packs.

Every pack has a Reverse Foil card. This card can be ANY card in the set except for the LvX cards.

Every pack also has a Rare card. One in three packs, this Rare card is replaced by a Rare-Holographic card, which could be a LvX.

Every pack contains also 3 Uncommon cards and 5 Common cards, making a total of 10 cards in each pack.

Just to clarify, the ones where there are no Alternate or Reverse version are already holo cards. It only applies to the premiums, and it would just be cruel to collectors to have multiples of those!

Every card in a deck can be holo in one form or another. Holo Energy haven't been printed in a set for a while, though they do exist; they're currently league promos.

The holo ratios are way better than M:TG, with a guaranteed holo in every Pokemon pack (and a maximum of two). Last year I saw loads of decks that people had made fully holo (it usually takes significant trading) but this season I don't think I've seen any. There have been a lot of new deck staples released this year, so I suppose people haven't managed to amass that many yet.
