Deoxys Movie Summary *contains MAJOR, MAJOR spoilers*

[Water Pokemon Master]

I have made a summary of the Deoxys movie based off of SPP’s plot line from CoroCoro. I made it a little clearer from their story line and added in some notes, but it's basically the same as theirs. If I have time tomorrow, I will put pictures in here to give you guys a visual.



Tooi – Main character of the movie

Dr. Rando – Tooi’s dad and a professor

Haruno – Dr. Rando’s assistant

Shouta, Ryuu, Hitomi, and two twins – Pokemon Trainers



The movie starts out with Deoxys crashing into the earth on a meteor. Rayquaza appears out of the sky and fires a hyperbeam at Deoxys, totally disintegrating the Pokemon.



The next scene is Tooi waking up from a dream about the battle Rayquaza and Deoxys had four years ago, which is what he, his mom, and Dr. Rando, his dad, witnessed. Rando and Haruno tell Tooi to remember that Deoxys is dead, and that the only thing remaining of it is a crystal globe, which they are experimenting on. Tooi thinks that the globe is a living thing.



Ash and crew arrive in Lala City (very confusing Japanese name, I’ll just call it Lala City), run into Gonbe by the trash cans, and go to Battle Tower as a Plusle and Minun steal Ash’s hat. They meet Tooi, which is very afraid of Pokemon. A man mistakes Ash and Tooi as the competitors in the next battle, so Ash and Tooi are thrown into the battle field. Tooi is afraid to use any Pokemon, so Ash is forced to battle on his own with Torkoal and Pikachu. Ash loses the match.



Later, Dr. Rondo is glad that Tooi has overcome his fear of Pokemon. Tooi then says he hasn’t, and gets upset and runs away. Ash and crew have no idea what’s wrong, and Haruno explains that the battle 4 years ago is what caused Tooi to hate and be afraid of Pokemon. Ash goes off to find Tooi.



Tooi is in a glass pyramid in the middle of the city. He calls to a mysterious light within the trees, and it floats on to his hand. Tooi says he doesn’t know why his body hates Pokemon when his mind is so interested by them. Ash comes in, the light disappears, and Tooi gets upset again and runs back into the city.



In the middle of the frozen ocean, a glacier splits in half and Deoxys emerges. It then heads off towards Lala City.



Back in Lala City, Pikachu jumps onto Tooi to get him to like him, but Tooi throws him off. Ash then notices something on top of the Battle Tower, and Tooi identifies it as Deoxys.



Back in the lab, the crystal globe begins to glow as Dr. Rondo states that they will soon know what it is. Harundo secretly makes an evil grin.



Suddenly from the sky, a hyperbeam appears aimed towards Deoxys. Deoxys leaps away, and the top of the Battle Tower is destroyed. Rayquaza is seen, and people begin to go into a panic. Tooi begins to have old memories of the battle and goes into shock. After the smoke from the Battle Tower subsides, everyone is surprised when Deoxys is not hurt. It is in it Defense Form.



Rayquaza and Deoxys face off, as Deoxys goes into its Attack Form. Over the PA system, it is announced for everyone to evacuate the city. The people begin to go into a panic, and run for their lives.



Tooi is seen running through the city, and he finds a Plusle in distress because his friend, Minun, is trapped in a garbage can. He forgets his fear of Pokemon and takes off the trashcan lid, and Minun emerges. He then backs off, and a Gonbe emerges from another trashcan, causing Tooi to faint. Ash finds him and makes him wake up. Tooi says he doesn’t need Ash’s help, as Gonbe is seen in the background picking up trash. A hyper beam crashes nearby, and Tooi tells everyone to follow him.



With Ash and crew are Shouta, Ryuu, Hitomi, and two twins, who apparently were involved with the Battle Tower battle or were in the audience (or something….) Tooi takes them to a botanical garden, and Hitomi pulls out a laptop and does a search on Deoxys, only to find nothing on the DNA Pokemon. (Gonbe is in the background sleeping)



Ash notices Tooi looking sad, so he asks him what he knows about Deoxys. Tooi states that Deoxys came to earth on a meteorite 4 years ago. He was born from the meteorite, and was given the name “Deoxys” by Dr. Rondo. Rayquaza appeared from the sky and killed the Pokemon, after it invaded Rayquaza’s territory in the ozone layer (hehe, I wonder how much longer Rayquaza can stay up in the ozone layer). Ryuu asks why Deoxys is still alive, and he says he doesn’t know.



(Note: Besides the ability of being able to change into an Attack and Defense Form, Deoxys also has the ability to create “Shadow Copies” of itself. These Shadow Copies are mindless golems who have no sense of awareness.)



Deoxys begins to make Shadow Copies of itself about the city, which come down and grab people, taking them to an unknown location. In the garden, Hitomi has her laptop open to a news story. The reporter on the news channel announces that there is a barrier around the city, and no one can get in or out.



A Shadow Deoxys then crashed through the glass roofs of the garden. Shouta uses his Blastoise, Ryuu uses Blaziken, Ash uses Pikachu, Hitomi uses Metagross, and the twins use Surskit and Masquerain to defend themselves, but nothing works against the Shadow Deoxys. More Shadow Deoxys appear, and they grab Shouta and his Blastoise [:(]. Brock and May try to attack with their Pokemon, but their PokeBalls will not open, as the others confirm the same thing.



Brock is attempting to wake up Gonbe, and the Pokemon yawns. From its yawn appears a large beam, which disintegrates all of the Shadow Deoxys. (Wow, Gonbe is strong for a Baby Pokemon)



Back in the lab, Haruno thanks an unconscious Dr. Rondo for all of his research and says he will now take over the research. (He knocked him out) He then takes the Crystal Ball (now called a ‘Crysal Body’) Suddenly, Tooi knocks at the door and asks Haruno to let him in. Haruno quickly hides Dr. Rando, and lets Tooi and crew in. Tooi asks where his father is, and Haruno says he is outside looking for Tooi. Ash says he is going to go look for Rando, but Ryuu tells him not to because the Shadow Deoxys may find them.



It is now night, and Dr. Rando has not come back. The twins complain they are hungry, and Gonbe offers them a sandwitch, which he eats, causing them to cry. Ash then goes outside in search for food, as the others follow. They avoid the Shadow Deoxys, who seem to be on patrol in the city, and find a hotdog stand. Pikachu thunderbolts it, and the stand begins to play music and throw out hot dogs. Shadow Deoxys appear after hearing the music, and Tooi, Plusle, and Minun appear, unaware of the Deoxys’ presence. One of the Shadow Deoxys leaps towards Tooi and Minun and snatches them, but Ash jumps on it and bites it, causing it to release Tooi. Ash tells everyone to run as many more Shadow Deoxys appear, but Tooi is worried about Pluse. (Awww…Tooi is beginning to like Pokemon) They run back to the buikding, and Pikachu finds bottled water.



Back at the lab, everyone is eating and watching a news broadcast on the laptop. Everyone has been taken to an unknown location, including Jesse, James, and Meowth.



Suddenly, Dr. Rando crawls out of the closet and tells everyone that Deoxys is gathering everyone up to look for a friend. (I seriously hope this is not why Deoxys is really doing all of this) Dr. Rando sees that the Crystal Body is missing, which has been taken by Haruno. He also says that Deoxys, too, wants the Crystal Body and is looking for it.



Tooi asks Rando what the Crystal Body really is, and Dr. Rando says it’s another Deoxys and that Deoxys has two bodies. Max tells Rando that Haruno made off with the Crystal Body, and that is why he thinks the Deoxys are on the fritz.


Tooi calls to his friend, the mysterious light from before, and the light tells him that he (the light) is the other Deoxys. Tooi tells everyone he thinks the Crystal Body is alive, and runs off to look for it, as everyone follows.



Harundo is running with a box that has the Crystal Body inside and a hyper beam hits the ground by him, causing him to drop the box and for the Crystal Body to role out. Harundo is barried in rumble.



Tooi and crew are being guided by the Deoxys of light in his hand. Tooi then vows to find Deoxys a friend. Haruno emerges from the rubbles, and can’t find the Crystal Body. He then takes out a remote control, pushes a button, then the orb begins to glow.



Deoxys, who is being wrapped by Rayquaza, notices the orb and becomes angry. The Deoxys of light then floats towards the orb, meaning they have found it.



Haruno claims the orb is his, and a swarm of Shadow Deoxys surround him. Ash thinks they have come for the orb, so he decided to help the evil Haruno.



Ok, this is the first half of the movie. According to SPP, this is all that was revealed in CoroCoro, so we will have to wait until July to see what happens at the climax.

I don't know...I don't like where the movie is going with Deoxys finding a friend. I hope that it is not taking over the city to find a friend. I hope this movie ends very sadly for once, like Tooi still not liking Pokemon and Deoxys going back to space or something.

That would be completely counter to the Pokemon philosophy, which is never leave a situation without hope (there was only one true "to be continued" episode, and even that one wasn't THAT dark)

Let's see. From my random 4AM research the past three-four months, this is what I have gathered:

movie I: Mewtwo wants to take over the world...sounds 1337 enough. However, the Pokeymanz' tears bring Ash back to life, and everyone's happy.
movie II: Weirdo "collects" Pokemon.
movie III: Little girl's daddy magically appears out of nowhere.
movie IV: Flamboyant guy with a mask tries to turn Celebi evil.
movie V: A couple weirdos turn a classic broadway play into a horrific pokemon-snatching nightmare.
movie VI: Dun even know what this is about. Glad, too =/
movie VII: Deoxys is looking for his friend.

This is why we have to lie about playing the Pokemon TCG. 'Cause people hear about how lame the movies are -_-

Those were bad descriptions of the movies. Here, lemme fix them:

Mewtwo Strikes Back: A Pokemon is cloned from another and is trying to find its true meaning for life. (In the JP version, Mewtwo actually says that since it was not created by God, it does not think it should live)

Pokemon 2000: There is a great disturbance in the balance of nature when a collector takes pieces of it, being the three legendary birds. Ash finds out that one person can make all the difference in saving the world and that you can do anything you set your mind to.

Pokemon 3: A girl loses both of her parents and mistakens Entei for being her father. She makes her dreams come true through the power of the Unown, but eventually has to come back to reality and realize that both her parents are gone and that she should go on with life. (both come back, except for the JP Version where only the dad comes back)

Pokemon 4Ever: Ash becomes friends with a young Professor Oak, who is brought into Ash's time with the power of Celebi. A hunter is trying to capture Celebi for its power, but Ash saves the day. Sammy has to leave and Ash loses a friend.

Pokemon Heroes: Latios and Latias protect the town of AltoMare when two thieves, Annie and Oakley, try to steal the source of the town's water, the Soul Dew. At the end, Latios dies to save the town.

Jirachi Wishmaker: Jirachi awakens after 1000 years and befriends Max. As the days go by, Max know Jirachi has to leave, and he eventually does. However, Max and Jirachi will always be in each other's hearts, even though Jirachi will well outlive Max. The movie is basically about Butler, a magician, trying to use Jirachi's power to create a Groudon.

BTW, I forgot to mention this. When previous Pokemon movies have been featured in CoroCoro, they have been totally different from what the movie was really like. CoroCoro only makes these comics to give you an idea to the feeling of the movie, so the Deoxys movie may not totally be like the summary.

But yeah, I'm fully aware that mangas definitely have more maturity to them, and that Americanized anime is a lot more "kiddy-like" than the pure stuff.

Mewtow returns to give peace to what he made.
Wasn't it called Mewtwo's return or something like that?
I know it was never in theatres, but was it ever meant for American eyes to see?

Yes, it was released on DVD and VHS in America and it was originally a special episode in Japan. I got my copy of it when I won it at the last WCSTS. :D

It is called Mewtwo Returns. And it wasn't ever at theatres (it wasn't in theatres in Japan either) but according to a cached page I brought up on Google once when I was searching for a transcript for it, it was a highly popular video. Was #9 on the top 10 videos (of all genres) sold the week it came out. (other things that week were Shrek, and a WW2 movie which I don't remember the name of at this moment)

I put then in in Bold. I don't know the one for #4, because I've never watched the short. Pokemon 4 is the only one I don't own.

#4 was "Pikachu's Pikaboo" I think. It's the one where they play hide and seek with the crazy lawnmower. It's my favorite one. :D

#1 Pikachu's Summer Vacation: The gang's pokemon take a vacation and meet some brand new species. They team together to help save Charizard.
#2 Pikachu's Rescue Adventure: Togepi falls into a secret grove and must save it along with lots of other pokemon.
#3 Pikachu and Pichu: Pikachu helps the Pichu brothers find their home, but meet many new friends along the way.
#4 Pikachu Peekaboo: All the pokemon play a game of hide-and-seek, but a little lawnmower crashes the party.
#5 Camp Pikachu: The Pichu brothers return and camp out with the whole gang.
#6 Gotta Dance: Meowth creates a dancing machine that everyone but Treecko dance their hearts out, until he snaps and destroys team rocket's base.
Wait... #6 doesn't have Pikachu in the title.
