Mesprit (the Cessation replacement)

Looking at next format, we basically have next to no disruption aside from Psychic Lock.
BUT, I do think that Mesprit has potential, to say the least.

I mean, it's a Psychic Lock for a turn that can't be stopped AND you can use it with Super Scoop Up
4 Mesprit+4 Super Scoop Up, along with your 4 Roseanne's could make for a VERY annoying deck to deal with.

My only problem is finding a deck to support it. My immediate thought was Blissey, simply because it tanks so well, but I don't know.

Any thoughts on what to play the 4/4 Mesprit/SSU line with?

DWD is my best guess. Drop a Mesprit when they have 3 or so cards in hand and a Baltoy or Claydol on the bench.

That's actually a great idea.
With Absol, you can even be more annoying and Mars too.

I may try this revival.

I'm just wondering if I should throw in Claydol to the mix or leave it as straight Blissey and Chatot?

That was also the problem that people saw with Blissey this format.
Too many people would somehow topdeck a Windstorm, get rid of Cessation, and go right along with setting up, which makes Mesprit all the more deadly.

Honchkrow could easily be the play with this. Just use Darkness Wing for knockouts, pick up SSUs and continue the lockdown. Too bad something like Gardy or Alakazam breaks the lock.

lol how^ no mesprit level x and no free retreat?

I ran it yesteraday with 2 lunatone and 2-3 claydol so you dont have to play a discarding supporoter every turn and i think maybe 3 mesprit would work too since you dont want too have 3 mesprit in pplay more like 1 or 2.... so my bench was normallly 2 mesprit 1 lunatone and 1 claydol and 1 blissey....\\oh yeah and dont forget wager....

Remember: Dusknoir is still alive.
And with IFDS (and maybe even that promo) releasing, Dusknoir decks should be highly meta at City Championships.

You really want to have 3 Mesprit on your bench against Dusknoir DP?

Oh really? Glaceon Lv.X doesn't just lock powers, but will also sweep away all worries about Dusknoir Lv.X and Gengar IFDS. It's easy to knock out, but you can use Espeon to make it survive longer.

Exxegutor is the best combo in my opinion. Drop your hand, play mesprit that turn, Psychic strategy leaving them with no cards or claydol. You basically get 2-3 free turns if you can keep the lock going via SSU until you get your main attacker set up(Gardevoir power lock anyone?) I have a deck posted that showcases mesprit and Gardy in a control way.

No, Glaceon Lv. X really isn't that great. It's just slow and doesn't pack a lot of punch for a stage 1 lv. x.

DWD is genius. Lock em for a few turns with Mesprit and get rid of their Claydol with Krow before they can use their powers again.

a minor stradegy that takes more than 4 space is not that good. Then you cant call it a cess replacement since bodies are going to be big also. I mean unless its a tech deck, thats the only way I would try 4/4 Mesprit LA/SSU
