I refuse to subscribe to Pepsi's evilly diabolic scheme!

Ok I love pepsi, it's my favorite soft drink, but this is just ridiculous...

I took a trip to my local wal-mart, and found that they have new "18 packs". I thought 'hey that's cool', then I noticed that they were 8 oz drinks.

The MATH:

12 pack of 12 oz pepsi: $2.50
18 pack of 8 oz pepsi: $4.50

12x12 = 144 total oz
18x8 = 144 total oz

Pepsi's charging us two extra dollars for extra aluminum. Is this not ridiculous? I hope they don't completely do away with the 12 pack...

I agree that what they are doing is horrible for the consumer...but am curious as to what a 'mantra' has to do with it; according to dictionary.com, a mantra is:

You're paying for convienence. 2 liters of soda are much cheaper than a 12 oz can of soda, but you can't exactly lug a 2 liter to school or so. Therefore, you pay more for the smaller size.

Anywhoo, yeah, it's for the convience. These are prices I'm pulling out of my head, so they're not 100% accurate...

24-pack, $6
12 pack, $3
2L Bottle, $1.50
1L Bottle, $1.50
20 oz Bottle, vending, $0.75-$1.25
20 oz Bottle, store, $1-$1.25
20 oz Bottle, 6-pack, $3
64 oz Fountain Drink, gas station, $0.59
32 oz Fountain Drink, restraunt, $1.50

I think the 2L bottle or the gas station fountain drink are probably the two best buys... But 2L bottles go flat within days of opening and typically aren't convient to lug around and fountain drinks, while being superior in taste (IMHO) can't easily be bought in quanity and stored for later consumption.

My big problem with Pepsi is that their 2L bottles and 20 oz Bottles both use a small lid/drinking hole, but their 1L bottles have this huge gaping hole in it that is quite inconvient to drink out of...

BTW, get this... apparently, sometime soon, Coke is going to start replacing 2L bottles with 1.5L bottles. And charge the same.

I am a dnL guy. (My favorite soda!) But if I had to pick between Coke and Pepsi, I would take RC Cola! :p

(Actully, I would take Pepsi because I think its a little sweeter.)

Yoshi, I doubt they replace the 12 oz can... but they might replace selling the 12 packs of it. I don't know... but Pepsi is evil. :P

they've been doing this for years. they have been making .5L bottles instead of 20oz bottles for a while now. of course, you can still buy 20oz bottles, but now you have to keep an eye out. coke and pepsi are trying to trick consumers into thinking they are getting more when in fact they are really just paying more for less. pretty shady, heh??

I despise cola regardless of brand. Same with whatever you'd call Dr. Pepper/Mr. Pibb.

I'm guessing it's obvious what I prefer. I tried the orange Mountain Dew once. Okay, not great. The ever-popular Sunkist is probably the second-worst orange soda I've ever had (worst goes to Walmart's Sam's Choice brand).

Best orange, however, goes to Safeway Select. That's right, a store brand that is actually good. As I recall, their Mountain Breeze was better than Mountain Dew, as well. Can't speak for other flavors, though. Haven't tried them.

Yeah it's shady. It takes you awhile to even realize they're the 8 oz cans! I was looking at this and I'm like "Hm, if I can't decide between a 12 pack and a 24 pack, they've given me an answer! Pepsi rules!" and then I notice the "8 fluid oz" thing.

By the way, have you ever noticed usually they list the TOTAL fluid oz on their product? They didn't with the 18 pack. They're deliberately trying to trick the majority of Americans who don't realize they're getting the same product for $2 more!

Shame on Pepsi! *says this while slurping on a nice cool Pepsi*

Something else I've noticed: Barq's does not in fact have bite.

Oh, and Dad's Root Beer isn't that great.

Oh, and A&W Root Beer is just terrible!!

dnL is a 7up variant with a fruity twist. dnL is also 7up upside down. You might be able to find it at Target.
