My grass deck, opinions?
Okay, NooB
here! Hi all. Started playing about 2-3 months ago with my 2 children. Addicting, isn't it? So been tweaking this deck originally started from the Terra Firma theme deck and a few other theme decks. Will be testing it out this weekend to see what happens. Limited with additional cards due to cost and availability. Trying my best to get what is needed. So here is the rundown of what I got so far: 3 Turtwig (2 DP, 1 MD) 2 Grotle (DP) 2 Torterra (1 DP, 1 MD) 1 Torterra Lv. X 4 Wurmple (DP) 2 Silcoon (DP) 1 Beautifly (DP) 2 Cascoon (DP) 1 Dustox (DP) 3 Zangoose (GE) Total = 21 2 Amulet Coin (GE) 1 Bebe's Search (SW) 2 Dawn's Stadium (MD) 2 Energy Search (DP) 2 Felicity's Drawing (GE) 1 Leftovers (GE) 2 Potion (DP) 2 Proffesor Oak's Visit (SW) 3 Quick Ball (1 MD, 2 MT) 2 Roseanne's Research (SW) 2 Super Scoop Up (DP) Total = 21 18 Grass Energy So that is the list, tell me what you think. Don't really have any strategy, just looking for synergy and I like the grass type. LOL! Threw the Zangoose in to help with starting off and keep my other basics from getting KO before I can evolve them. Which has happened, lesson learned! That's when the tweaking really started. Now that I am learning more about the game and playing more, I am able to see how the deck functions. I know that a deck will always be changed as more cards become available or I find something I like better. But this is what I got for now and we will see how the deck holds up this weekend. Please keep in mind that I am new to this and am looking for positive comments in creating a better deck. And that I have not built up an extensive card base as of yet to change many cards. Thanks in advance for any words of advise that are given. pokemomof2 |

so far from what i see there is no strategy like you said. I can tell you now if you play this deck Saturday it won't take many wins. However with a few changes here and there we can really speed it up.
First of all if you have a the Sceptile from GE I would run a 2-2-2 line if possible. if you can get a hold of some rare candy i would these are a must for any stage 2 deck. Rare candies are a sorta backbone for all decks that run stage 2 lines. More importantly If you can run the Sceptile line get rid of the beutifly and dustox line because they don't really do much at all. More importantly one should never run energy search as it is wasteful and eats up potential card space instead i would replace them with either pokeball, duskball, or a premier ball to help accelerate getting pokemon and lv. Xs. Also while potion is nice in that it removes 2 damage counters that's all it does and 2 damage counters isn't usually enough to do much. So I would replace those with more Oak's Visits and Bebe's search. Some of these cards maybe hard to come by but trainers are easy as many of the ones i mentioned can be found in starter decks. also i would get rid of leftovers for another supporter that draws cards |

Your deck looks good but in my opinion you should get rid off.
x1 Turtwig x3 Zangoose replace them with x1 Beautifly x1 Dustox x2 Bebe Searches Also, I think potions are useless but dawn stadium is pretty good since it removes 1 damage counter and special conditions from a pokemon when you add an energy to it. Also, get night maintenances so you can get energies, pokemon that you need from your discard pile.

A Venusaur line is pretty solid IMO, once you're able to get some Sceptile's from Great Encounters try to get the Venusaur from EX Crystal Gaurdians cause his Green Blast attack does 20 damage plus 10 for every Grass Energy attached to your Pokemon thus it's very similiar to Leafeon Lv. X's Verdant Force attack which does any Energy instead of just Grass.
Potions are decent but they have a much bigger effect when combined with Dawn Stadium in play and Sunflora's Grass Whistle Poke-Power. Bench Sweepers would be good to run as well even If you might need to go off color like with Ampharos (Secret Wonders) or on color with Yanmega (Legends Awakened). I would consider trying to get Leafeons and Leafeon Lv. X cause he can wreck in this deck, I would also consider getting Claydol (Great Encounters) so that you can sift through your deck for draw power, also Team Galactic's Wager is good hand disruption against your Opponent and If you lose the Paper-Rock-Scissors you can draw back what you lost with Claydol simple. Chatot (Majestic Dawn) is good for fixing your hand If you got a bad one, Girafarig helps you search for any Trainer with Crane Neck, and Smeargle (Secret Wonders) is a pretty good card to run for Energy searching and copying opponent's Pokemon attacks with Trace. Hope that helps... |

Thanks all. Pulled some card from the other deck I had started on.
Removed: 2 Super Scoop Up 2 Potion 1 Leftovers 2 Energy Search 1 Turtwig (DP) Replace with: 3 Dusk Ball 3 Mom's Kindness 2 Proffessor Rowan So we will see how this will work out tonight @ league. Then I can make more adjustments when I go to another league tomorrow. Maybe I can be able to get some other cards at the two places. Wish me luck!!! |

Based on changes made on 9/19, I won 1 out 3 games at league that night.
The next day, I picked up a new theme deck, SW Lava Flow and pulled out some stuff. So here is the new line-up, which won 1 out of 3. 16 grass energy 2 Sentret 2-2-2 Venusaur 2-2-2 Dustox 2-2-2-1 Torterra/X Pokemon = 15 2 Felicity's Drawing 1 Mom's Kindness 2 Dawn's Stadium 2 Dusk Ball 3 Bebe's Search 2 Proffessor Oak's Visit 2 Roseanne's Research 1 Rare Candy 2 Quick Ball 2 Team Galactic's Mars 2 Proffessor Rowan Trainer, supporter = 21 I will probably tweak it more as I get more cards. And the more I play and read on these forums, I see more stragy emerging with the deck. Thanks for all who post @ PokeGym for the loads of insight!!!!!!
